The Mercy House vegetable garden initiative provides transformative advantages for our mothers and their families by offering accessible, organic produce at no cost or low cost, while fostering a crucial support network. This initiative empowers our Mercy House mothers with the resources to optimize their grocery budgets and establish secure, interactive outdoor spaces where children can learn, play, and connect with nature.

Today is Food Bank Monday. Are you aware of the critical role that food pantries and non-profit organizations play in providing supplemental food access to affected households? In 2024, 13.7% of U.S. households (18.3 million) faced food insecurity, which is defined as limited or uncertain access to adequate, nutritious food due to financial constraints or lack of resources. This issue has severe health implications, including chronic diseases and mental health problems, primarily driven by poverty, unemployment, and systemic inequalities. The Franklin Avenue Mission Marketplace, in collaboration with existing initiatives such as the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan and other east side missions, aims to address this community's needs. To volunteer for Monday shopping and delivery or Tuesday Marketplace activities, please contact Franklin Avenue Mission at 810-285-9598. Franklin Avenue Mission
