Yesterday was one of those days that reminds us why we do this work.

At the R. L. Jones Community Outreach Center here in Flint, Michigan, we served our community as we always do — doors open, hearts open — no matter the weather.

Snow falling, high winds, and temperatures at -9 (feels like -13) — and still, families lined up. The need is that great. And so is the faith, resilience, and determination of this community.

We have never closed our doors, regardless of weather or crisis. Thursdays are about showing up — because hunger, hardship, and hope don’t take days off.

We are deeply grateful to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for allowing their missionaries to come and serve alongside us, and to the incredible Job Corps young people who worked diligently and faithfully in these trying conditions.

This is just a snapshot — but it reflects the heart of what we do.
This is what faith in action looks like.

We extend heartfelt thanks to Bishop Philip Jackson, Pastor of Greater Seth Temple Sanctuary of Praise Church of God in Christ, for his generous $1,000 gift in support of the R. L. Jones Community Outreach Center.

After reading about the work being done through the COC, Bishop Jackson chose to partner with us — and we are truly grateful. His support helps us continue serving families with dignity, compassion, and care throughout Flint and Genesee County.

At RL Jones Community Outreach Center the conditions the elements may bring are not enough of a reason for us to not show up for the people we love! And that includes a 22 degree freezing cold day like today. We love our people and we love Flint, MI.
