The Greater Flint Creative Alliance

The Greater Flint Creative Alliance The Geater Flint Creative Alliance A non-profit organization working to revitalize Flint through collective creative action.

But more than just that–we are artists, volunteers, community outreach, and friends, all working to make this a better place to live via our art and our passion. Without creativity, what can we create here? Without hope, how can we truly live here? Without each other, how can we have a community? It is our hope that by bringing more art, more community service, and more life into Flint that it wil

l create an atmosphere people will want to live in and help maintain. We are the enemies of despair and boredom.

Looking to add a little culture to your entertainment mix? The Flint Institute of Arts has an amazing permanent collection, and exhibitions, programs to experience art, listen to lectures on happenings in the world of art, celebrate cultures in our community, as well as the Flint area's only art house and foreign films---from the African American Film Series to the Jewish Film Festival and so much more.

While at the FIA don't forget to stop into the Palette Café to grab a bite to eat. Might I suggest their Roast Turkey or Stacked Ham Sandwiches along with a cup of soup. Rumor has it the best grilled cheese in the Flint Cultural Center is their Triple Grilled Cheese which is delicious all on its own or paired with their Soup Dour of the day. Whatever you choose it'll be a great meal all while you enjoy all the FIA has to offer.

Now Open!

Buckham Gallery is pleased to present the third exhibition of Season 42 featuring three concurrent solo exhibitions with Nichole Gronvold-Roller, Cliff Hughes, and Joanie Wind. January Exhibitions open January 9 and run through February 6, 2026.

Joanie Wind - Decaying Mirages

Joanie Wind impregnates her suffering with silliness to the point of intoxication. The characters and objects in her paintings animate an endless interplay of impulse, apathy, and complicity. Wind grew up in the American Southwest eating fast food, shopping thrift and dollar stores, and watching cartoons. Much of that culture spills onto the canvas, embodying an array of personal quandaries about her relationship to power.

Joanie Wind is a Detroit-based video artist and mixed media painter originally from Tucson, Arizona. She holds a BFA in Painting and an MFA in Interdisciplinary Art from Eastern Michigan University.
