The Friends of Flint McFarlan Veterans Memorial Park wish to offer our heartfelt thanks to Swartz Creek Fellowship Lodge #236 (aka "The Brotherhood of Flags”) for their generous pledge "...to become the perpetual steward and benefactor of the park's American Flag and the flags of our Armed Services." Masonic Lodges shouldn’t be invisible—communities need to *see* service in action. Being present at events like the Sloan Auto Fair at Crossroads Village lets your neighbors recognize what you stand for: fellowship, charity, and goodwill—turning good intentions into trust you can point to.

Wonderful weekend for Masonry. Excellent communiry visibility opportunity. Connected with many people whose family members were or are Masons. Brother Larry Whitman showed up and distributed several Child ID kits. Many thanks to Brothers Dan Hall, for helping to set up and Duane Whitman; Larry Whitman and WB Dave Martin for helping to staff and tear down the booth.

Don't forget to stop by Fellowship Lodges Tent and learn how Michigan Masonry helped shape the Automotive Landscape with many of the Automotive Pioneers through Masonic Membership. Then rest and relax in air conditioned comfort and view the the Documentary "Light on the Lakes: Michigan Masonic Journey" as it explores Michigan Masonry all the way back to the establishment of Michigan's first Masonic Lodge in 1764 Zion Lodge #1. From the transactions of the Grand Lodge of Michigan:
"Detroit, June 24th, 1826.
At a meeting of delegates and proxies from the following lodges in the Territory of Michigan, convened this day on due notice, at Mason's Hall in the city of Detroit, the brethren hereinafter named appeared and produced their credentials, to wit:
Henry J. Hunt, John L. Whiting, Austin E. Wing - Delegates from Zion No. 3
John Garrison, Charles Jackson - Delegates from Detroit No. 337
Andrew G. Whitney, Marshal Chapin - Proxies for Menominee No. 374
John Anderson - Delegate from Monroe No. 375
Brother Andrew G. Whitney was called to the chair and John L. Whiting appointed Secretary, and then the Convention adjourned until six o'clock p.m. of the same day.
At six p.m., the Convention again assembled. Brother Orville Cook, another proxy for Menominee Lodge, appeared and took his seat.
RESOLVED - That in all votes taken in this Convention the votes be taken by Lodges.
RESOLVED - That in the opinion of this Convention it is expedient to form a Grand Lodge in Michigan.
A draft of a constitution was then submitted and discussed, and a part of it adopted.
