Flint Public Art Project Volunteer-Run Non-Profit Arts Organization

Flint Public Art Project organizes public events, workshops and temporary installations to inspire residents to reimagine the city, reclaim vacant and underutilized buildings and lots, and use innovative tools to steer Flint’s long-range planning. Flint Public Art Project supports collaborations among local residents and organizations as well as with leading artists, architects, planners and community organizers from around the world, connecting Flint to regional, national and global movements to revitalize neighborhoods and cities through art and design. The project documents and amplifies the many ways local residents, businesses and institutions are transforming Flint and its public image and identity, and broadcasting this new story to audiences throughout the city and the world.

We were lucky to get Ricky Watts here in Flint for the Free City Mural Festival to add the finishing touch on the walls of the Flint River Watershed Coalition! The waves, shapes and colors in this piece amplifies beauty you can find in nature and art.

NCarlosJ’s mural for the Free City Mural Festival located on the South Side of Flint! With his Out Of This World piece, it calls for childlike imagination that was inspired by his son, beginning with paper cranes, a bright spirit and creative vision that can take you anywhere in your mind.

Bakpak Durden’s mural for the Free City Mural Festival!

This masterpiece is a hauntingly beautiful sight as you pass through Buckham Alley, located on the Sector Link building. Watch until the end to see the mural’s impact at night and if you’re there in person, find orange triangles on the ground to stand on and you can view the mural through the eyes of the artist.
