MPEP Outreach Programs Michigan Pitbull Educational Project | Serving Flint, MI since 2016. TEXT ONLY: 248-767-3280 Michigan Pit Bull Education Project works all across Michigan.

Our mission is to protect, rescue, rehabilitate & rehome chained, abused & neglected dogs while providing education and essential resources. However, our dedicated outreach program, is in Flint Michigan. We are committed to helping 24/7 chained dogs in Flint. We will help provide vet care, spay/neuter, micro-chipping, dog houses, straw, food, collars, and tie outs. We offer education to help them bring the dog inside. Since the outreach program was implemented in 2016, we have taken in over 500 dogs from the backyards of Flint. We rehabilitated, vetted and placed them up for adoption in warm loving homes. Did you know there are thousands of dogs that live outside 24/7 in Flint, MI.
There itā€™s completely normal to see. Nobody thinks anything about it when everyone and their mom has a dog tied up in the backyard. Us, a group of volunteers, get owners permission to go in their yards and check on these dogs. Give them things that might make their lives a little better. Give them straw weekly in the winter. Because guess whatā€¦. Whether we show up or not the dogs will be out there. But a dog we help will have a tie out instead of a chain (when owners allow), a thick collar that wonā€™t cut into their neck, flea prevention, straw in their dog house and a relationship with us so when their owner decides to surrender the dog girls scoop them up without a second thought.
You might think we are enabling but that dog will be out there regardless just worse off without our group in their corner.
You want laws to change? Do something about it. You want laws enforced? Do something about it. Because we have tried and have already given all weā€™ve got. We show up every week and help so many dogs. They still need help TODAY whether things are changing or not. Weā€™ve gotten HUNDREDS surrendered over the years and into living homes. What do you do?

This is what happens when people canā€™t have their dogs where they live. They give them to their friend or family member to hold onto until they move. Last week this dog was inside when we went to check on an outreach stop he was happy and excited to get pet by us. This week heā€™s outside and terrified. Hoping his owner will find somewhere to live with him soon šŸ¤žšŸ¼
*he has shelter food and water and they do bring him in for periods of time. Thatā€™s all he needs for AC to not be able to do anything

There are thousands of dogs living chained up in Flint, MI. We are a group of volunteers that try to better their lives in anyway possible. We do what we can to get them surrendered so we can get them to the vet and find new LOVING homes.

Tomorrow is another day of helping the unfortunate dogs of Flint, MI.
There are thousands of dogs living outside in Flint with weak laws to protect them.
Us, a small group of volunteers, go out ever single week to help as many as we can.
We give them straw in their dog houses, replaces chained for lightweight cable tie outs, give them flea prevention and a big bowl of food topped with wet food and treats. The dogs FAVORITE thing we bring is love and affection. Pig ears are a close secondā€¦.
Thank you to everyone that sends us supplies so we can continue to show up for them.
We were able to get a momma cat and her kitty off the streets of Flint and safe with a rescue partner.
One by one getting these animals out of here!

This is Rouseyā€¦ (yes, like Ronda Rousey)
We found her running the streets in Flint a few weeks ago. After her stray hold was up and no owner claimed her we got her completely vetted and ready for adoption.

Rousey is an amazing bulldog mix that is 30 pounds.

Rousey is a short stack, and full of love!!
She is completely vetted, including all vaccines, spayed, and on flea and heartworm preventative.

Rousey gets along with other dogs and the cat. She does not chase the free range chickens, and she stays close to her person.
She does well on a leash, although we have not had to use it at home because she would rather walk next to you then run off.
We are guesstimating that Rousey is between 2-4 yrs old.
She takes treats gently & is very food motivated!
She is potty trained on a strict schedule.

Her favorite thing is snuggling up next to her person and being a comfort puppy.

She may dress up all cute and adorable, but this girl snores like a sailor! šŸ˜‚

Local shelter won't take.
7 month old brothers are fighting.
Owner is keeping them separate but giving up. Only giving up Petey. Our rescue only takes in our own outreach dogs from MPEP Outreach Programs

Did you know thereā€™s thousands of dogs living chained up in Flint, MI right now?
Every week we are helping over 100 dogs in the city. We are out in streets, neighborhoods and backyards finding the ones that need help the most.
We donā€™t agree with ā€œoutdoor dogsā€ but with weak laws to protect them we do as much as we can while getting them surrendered one by one as the owners let us.

The puppies we posted yesterday are SAFE with rescue.
These puppies were left outside in the crate when the owner didnā€™t want them. We were contacted to help but unfortunately can not take on a litter of puppies right now.

šŸ˜­EDDIE IS STILL LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO CALL HIS FUR-EVER HOMEšŸ˜­

With rescue you try your hardest to find the best possible home, but you canā€™t always prepare for unforeseen circumstances. That is the case for poor Eddie. About a year and a half ago, Eddie was adopted into a great home where he is so so loved. He was a foster fail and his family loves him. As time passed however, the other large resident dog in the home decided they didnā€™t want to continue to share the home and mom with another large dog. We would hate for any of our dogs to be in an unsafe situation, and after spending some time trying to work things out, we (and his owner) believe the best thing for Eddie is to be rehomed. Eddie is getting older and we want him to live out the rest of his days in a calm environment, safe environment to make up for his horrible start at life. His adopter loves him to death, and so do we.

Due to the nature of these circumstances, we think it is best that Eddie be placed in a home with no other dogs. Currently, he is still doing well with the smaller dogs in the home, and we donā€™t think Eddie is the one instigating, but we would hate to see this situation happen to poor Eddie again. He needs a place to live out his golden years and experience everything he was never able to before he was rescued.

Eddie is estimated to be 6-7 years old and has the cutest little crooked face. His ears were likely a backyard crop job and because of that he has to have them protected in the rain or snow. He looks adorable wearing his headbands and we think it just makes him extra special šŸ„°

Please consider opening your home to this sweet sweet boy, after all heā€™s been through in his 6-7 years, he deserves a family to grow old with. He deserves a fur-ever home. If youā€™re interested in meeting Eddie you can fill out an adoption application using the link below!
