We get as many as we can surrendered to our rescue, vetted and adopted into loving indoor homes. Michigan Pit Bull Education Project works all across Michigan. However, our dedicated outreach program, is in Flint Michigan. We are committed to helping 24/7 chained dogs in Flint. We will help provide vet care, spay/neuter, micro-chipping, dog houses, straw, food, collars, and tie outs. We offer educ

ation to help them bring the dog inside. Since the outreach program was implemented in 2016, we have taken in over 500 dogs from the backyards of Flint. ON HER WAY TO EMERGENCY VET šŸšØ
We are out in Flint today and Laylaā€™s owner contacted us wanting to surrender. They said she couldnā€™t walk and didnā€™t want to eat. We got there and she was excited to see us and gave it her all to try and stand and walk. Sheā€™s stumbling and falling on her butt every time she tries. We donā€™t know whatā€™s wrong with her but sheā€™s currently on her way to Wilsonā€™s Veterinary Hospital. Sheā€™s lived outside most of her life and never been to the vet. We have no idea how big of a bill this is going to be. Thousands of dogs lives tied up in backyards in Flint, MI. It is not illegal to do this and honestly even if it was it would still happen.
We help as many as we can. Checking on them, bringing them supplies and love, getting them surrendered any time their owner is willing.
Every week we show up, vans and truck loaded and go into these yards. We work with the owner trying to get them to do better. Sometimes they do, sometimes they donā€™t.
Whether we show up or not the dogs will still be there. Better to have us looking out for them than no one at all.
Hereā€™s a few pictures from last Sundayā€™s outreach run. Every dog was given flea prevention for the month and of course it poured at the end of the day.
We could always use supplies from our Amazon wishlist! Most needed: pig ears, dog food, bones or other long lasting chews.
Tomorrow is another outreach day. We will see what it brings and who we can rescue!

Amazing the amount of food, tie outs, water, flea prevention and other things we bring to visit so many dogs in Flint.. and this is only one of the vehicles.
Thousands of dogs lived chained outside. Thereā€™s no laws preventing it in Flint, MI.
We are the dogs only hope. If their owner decides to surrender we never hesitate to say YES.

How it started vs how itā€™s going.
From being left behind by owners in backyard, skinny, covered in flies, heavy chain and basically feral.
To being loved, being able to trust and cared for by the best rescue momma.
Thank you to the rescues that work with us.
We could not save so many from terrible conditions without help from others.
Working together makes it possible and every dog we get out of Flint is worth it ā¤ļø

A little update on a puppy we rescued.
A year ago she was a tiny baby outside in a crate behind a house in Flint. Tail completely raw from who knows what kind of neglect or torture.
Today sheā€™s a beautiful spoiled girl with the best mom and dad.
Sheā€™s so lucky she made it out unlike so many others that end up chained in backyards getting food and water every few days. Getting eaten alive by flies, getting pregnant or attacked by strays.
Showing up every single week for the dogs of Flint, MI is so important. Answering the calls of a dog in need also important.
You never know who youā€™ll be able to rescue.

They only know their small circle that their owner allows them.
If we didnā€™t come check on them every week they would still be out thereā€¦ just with no one looking out for them waiting for that opportunity to get them surrendered.

As an outreach group that helps the dogs chained in backyards while rescuing as many as we can, we celebrate dogs being inside their owners homesā€¦ but is it a win if it looks like this? The answer is no.
F***s, urine, flies and trash INSIDE the home. You see them in the window and think ā€œgood they have their dog insideā€ while so many people in this city donā€™t.
But sometimes inside isnā€™t always better.
We want people to take care of their dogs but what if thereā€™s no running water in the house? No air conditioning? No walls, no kitchen? Itā€™s hard for them to understand better care for their dogs when this is how they live too.
Until you understand the people in this city youā€™ll never understand what we go through as an outreach and rescue fighting the endless fight.

This one time we got a dog surrendered to us from living outside.
He was adopted by an amazing family.
Heā€™s now spoiled beyond belief.
His mom and dad decided they want to help other dogs like him.
They are now part of our outreach volunteer team.
They show up for the dogs that need us most.

Last Sunday it POURED.
But we are out all day no matter the weather. Soaked to our underwear, ringing out our clothes we couldnā€™t get many pictures. The last few hours of the day the sun came out and it was hot again.
We were able to get 3 puppies safe and checked on so many dogs whoā€™s only hope is us.
Each dog got a bone. Iā€™ve been saving them up until we got enough donated for everyone to get one.
Today is another outreach day. We will see what it brings.
Items needed from our list: dry dog food, clear bags for straw bales, bones/pig ears/chews. Thank you šŸ«¶šŸ¼
