Thirteen firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty are honored on the Genesee County Fallen Firefighters Memorial:

• Delbert Eckley — 1923
• Orval Mullholand — 1945
• Chief Edward Pavlica — 1971
• Robert Doll — 1973
• Capt. James Whitten — 1976
• Roger Campbell — 1980
• Matthew Young — 1980
• Bradford Lennon — 1985
• Chief Engineer Christopher Hilden — 1989
• Lt. John Voorhees — 2000
• Engineer Ricky Hill Jr. — 2023

These firefighters, from the Flint Fire Department and Swartz Creek Area Fire Department, answered the call and made the ultimate sacrifice. Their names remain a permanent part of our community and our fire service.

🎒📚 BACK TO SCHOOL SAFETY! 🚒

School is back! Let’s help our kids start the year safe, smart & ready to learn! ❤️

🚌 Bus Safety: Stay 10 feet away from the bus, wait for the driver’s signal before crossing, and NEVER walk behind the bus.

🚸 Street Safety: Look both ways, use crosswalks, and stay alert around traffic.

👋 Stranger Safety: Never go anywhere with a stranger or accept rides, gifts, or treats. Teach kids to tell a trusted adult if something doesn’t feel right.

🔥 Fire Safety: Know two ways out of every room and have a family meeting spot outside.

📱 Fun Fact: Kids should know their full name, address, and how to call 911 in an emergency!

🚒 Serving Our Community Beyond the Call ❤️

T-55 recently responded to an open burn on Flint’s east side, where we met an incredible group of young people who were spending their time doing missionary work and helping in the neighborhood.

While we were there, one of the young men was especially excited to see the firefighters and equipment. He’s loved fire trucks and firefighters since he was a kid, so our crew was happy to give him a chance to experience what it’s like to step into a firefighter’s boots! 👨‍🚒

Moments like these are a great reminder that being a firefighter is about more than responding to emergencies. It’s about building relationships, encouraging our youth, and being part of the community we serve.

Thank you to these young men and women for the positive example they’re setting through their service to others. Flint Strong! ❤️🚒

To everyone who has taken the time to read, comment, share, and engage with our recent posts—thank you.

We understand that these conversations can bring out strong emotions and differing opinions. We respect that. Our intention has never been to point fingers, assign blame, or single out any individual. Our purpose is simply to provide transparency, raise awareness, and keep our community informed about the challenges facing the Flint Fire Department and how they can impact the citizens we are honored to serve.

Every day, Flint firefighters come to work with one goal: to protect this community. We are incredibly proud to wear this badge and answer the call, no matter the circumstances. We care deeply about our city, our fellow firefighters, and the people who depend on us.

To those who have offered words of encouragement, shared our posts, and supported our mission, we are truly grateful. Your support means more than you know and helps ensure these important conversations reach more members of our community.

Flint Firefighters Local 352 remains committed to protecting the residents of Flint every day.

Today, due to ongoing staffing shortages and retention challenges, only three of our five fire stations are in service. This stretches our already limited manpower even thinner and can increase response times throughout the city.

Our firefighters will continue to answer every call with professionalism and dedication, but the reality is that wages lower than comparable departments have made it difficult to recruit and retain firefighters.

We share this not to create alarm, but to keep our community informed. Flint deserves a fully staffed fire department, and we will continue advocating for the resources needed to provide the level of service our residents deserve.

We are proud to serve the City of Flint, and we will continue to answer the call—every time.

Flint Firefighters Local 352 extends our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and members of the Lincoln Park Fire Department following the unexpected line-of-duty death of Sgt. Amrozi.

The loss of any firefighter is felt throughout the entire fire service. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those grieving during this difficult time.

Rest easy, Brother. We have the watch from here. 🖤

🚒 Flint firefighters have responded to more than 14 structure fires in the past week, including fires on Hammerberg Rd., Fenton & 12th St., and Elms Mobile Home Park on Dort Hwy. Many involved vacant structures, but every fire requires a full emergency response.

With only 15 firefighters on duty to protect the entire City of Flint—well below NFPA-recommended staffing levels—our crews are being stretched thin.

Please remember open burning is prohibited, use caution with anything that could start a fire, and report any suspicious activity around vacant buildings.

If you see or hear emergency vehicles:�🚨 Stay alert and avoid distractions.�🚨 Slow down and move over when it’s safe to do so.�🚨 Never follow too closely or try to beat an emergency vehicle through an intersection.�🚨 Be patient—those few extra seconds could help save a life.
