The Flint Area Explorer Program is a comprehensive, career-focused mentoring program designed to provide youth ages 14-20 with knowledge and experience of a variety of careers in law enforcement. In addition, the program strives to develop character and leadership skills as well as the Explorers' capacity as citizens, community members, leaders, and potential law enforcement officers. The Flint Ar

ea Explorer Program is a collaborative effort of the following law enforcement agencies in Genesee County, Michigan:

City of Flint Police Department
Mott Community College Department of Public Safety
Office of the Genesee County Sheriff
University of Michigan-Flint Department of Public Safety

A team of advisors, representing each of the partnering law enforcement agencies, serves as the core team to develop the curriculum and operate the program.

We're excited to bring back our Future Women in Law Enforcement Program! Hosted at our Police Department, this unique experience offers participants an inside look into policing and related fields, including dispatch, forensics, and emergency medical services.

Throughout the week, participants will take part in hands on learning and interactive experiences such as:
• Fingerprinting techniques
• Self defense training
• Scenario based simulations
• And more

This program is open to up to 20 participants, selected through an application process.

MSP Teen Defensive Driving School - April 4, 2026
The Michigan State Police are hosting a Teen Defensive Driving School. Event to be held at the Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, MI.

Two sessions: 8:00 am-noon, and 12:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. The event is open to teens, ages 14 and 9 months to 19. Teens must have at least a level 1 driver’s license to participate. The event is free.
