Adventure Amputee Camp

Adventure Amputee Camp We are a 100% non-profit organization with the sole purpose of providing a memorable camp experience Thank you!!

We are a 100% non-profit organization with the sole purpose of providing a memorable camp experience to children with limb loss or limb differences. The camp is free to qualifying children and held in the mountains of North Carolina for 5 days in July. During that week, we participate in white water rafting, 20 foot/40 foot ropes courses, adaptive tennis, adaptive water skiing, scuba diving, etc.

We typically have 34 campers, ages 7-17, and by the end of those 5 days, we truly become a family. AAC also hosts a Winter Camp in Wintergreen, VA, which is the latest addition to our organization. This camp welcomes children (ages 7-17) who are interested in learning to, or improving on, skiing and snowboarding. AAC Winter Camp typically takes place in January or February, lasting 4 days, and also including tubing, ice skating, and swimming (indoors). Financial support for the camp is provided through two sources: fundraising and contributions of time/materials from volunteer leadership, counselors, and supporters. Our main goal is providing an uplifting and comfortable environment for our campers, while continuously inspiring them after camp. AAC relies primarily on donations from individuals and businesses. Please share what we do, like our page, or donate - so you can also show your support in such an incredible organization for children living with limb loss or limb differences. https://secure.donortownsquare.com/SSL/donate.aspx?sgst=0&amt=0&ai=984&qs=TJH66!

💜 Camper Spotlight: Zoe 💜

Zoe first came to Adventure Amputee Camp in 2021, and somehow, this year marked her final summer as a camper as she officially ages out. 🥹

It’s been incredible watching this hilarious, kind-hearted, spirited girl grow into the amazing young woman she is today. Zoe has brought so much laughter, fun, and heart to camp over the years, and we are so proud of her and all that’s ahead!

And a pretty impressive fun fact: Zoe has been on the winning Camp Olympics team EVERY single year she’s been at camp. 🏆😂 At this point, we’re thinking she might just be the good luck charm.

We love you, Zoe! 💜 Once a camper, always part of the AAC family.

For longtime camper Mackenna, AAC is one of her favorite places to be - and it’s easy to see why.

“It’s a place where you can connect with almost everybody here.”

That’s what camp is all about: finding your people, building friendships, and knowing you belong. 🫶

They make the magic happen. 💚

From cheering on nervous first-time campers to staying up late, waking up early, leading activities, offering encouragement, and making everyone feel like they belong—our counselors are the heart of Adventure Amputee Camp.

We couldn’t do this without them. Thank you for pouring so much into our campers year after year. 🫶

Every route is different. Every victory is earned. 🧗💚

Camp is about more than climbing walls - it’s about building confidence that lasts long after the harness comes off.

MJ first came to Adventure Amputee Camp in 2013. She says camp is where she felt like she belonged - surrounded by people who looked like her. Today, she’s back as a counselor.

When asked what camp means to her, her answer was simple:

“Family.” 💚

Her favorite memory? The night the power went out and camp turned into one big dance party. 🕺✨

From camper to counselor, MJ is proof that the impact of camp lasts far beyond one week.

Camp Olympics isn’t complete without the legends. 🏆💛
The beloved Golden Leg has been battled over for years… but this year, it finally got a worthy sidekick.

Introducing the Golden Arm. 💪✨

May the bragging rights continue. 😎

POV: The movie won’t load… so your counselors become the entertainment. 😂

The best part? These two started as campers. Now they’re back making the next generation laugh just as hard.

Then ➡️ Now 💙

In 2019, Lilly arrived at Adventure Amputee Camp as a 10-year-old camper.

Today, she’s grown into a spunky, fierce, hilarious, and nurturing young woman who leaves camp better than she found it.

Watching our campers grow up is one of the greatest gifts of Adventure Amputee Camp. They become mentors, role models, lifelong friends, and reminders of why this place matters so much.

Lilly, we couldn’t be prouder of you. No matter how many years pass, you’ll always have a place here.
