NOT A NEW COLLECTION, BUT...
Newly updated is Collection No. 38, the D. Howard Moreau Collection. First described and released to the public in the early 1980's, the first part of this collection (box 1 and box 2 folders 1-10) includes material relating to D. Howard Moreau's capacity as editor and publisher of The Hunterdon Democrat. Material includes editorial correspondence, including letters to Mr. Moreau regarding "The Regional High School Question"; manuscripts for Hubert G. Schmidt's weekly newspaper column, "Historically Speaking," which he published for 150 weeks; "Lindbergh Comes To The Village" manuscript by Elizabeth Van Fleet Vosseller; and a sketch and related material regarding Civil War Major Lambert Boeman.
In 2026 an accrual was added which is in box 2 folders 11-25, and boxes 3-6. These are photographs in various formats including contact prints, glass plate negatives, daguerrotypes, and prints. Box 2 contains images taken for The Hunterdon County Democrat, and many of the photographs have titles written on the back. In this section many of the people in the photos are not identified, except in folders 11 and 12, which contain images of staff members of the Hunterdon County Democrat. Boxes 3 and 4 contain images of life and people both inside and outside of Hunterdon County. The folders are arranged by family and location when known. Many of these images have names written on the back and/or descriptions of the families during the time the photograph was taken. Some of the families include LaTourette, Britton, Reeves, Studdiford and Coryell. Box 5 contains pins and and medals from the early to mid 1900s and box 6 contains glass plate negatives, the subjects of which are all unidentified.
