2021 CEA & Johanna Foods Turkey Trot Challenge

We are happy to inform you that CEA will be able to resume our in-person Turkey Trot this year, but this will be dictated by the current local conditions regarding COVID-19. Join us on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 25, 2021 for the 29th Annual CEA/JFI Turkey Trot. The event is NJ’s original Turkey Trot and consists of a 5K Run & 2M walk that

takes participants through the historic streets of Flemington, NJ. Each year, The CEA/JFI Trot has attracted upwards of 6,000 runners & walkers who help raise funds for CEA’s employment programs that benefit hundreds of individuals with disabilities. Since 1993, we have raised much needed funds to support our mission from the generous support of our sponsors, donors, and runners. The CEA/JFI Turkey Trot has become a family holiday tradition for generations that offers expert and novice runners alike the opportunity to spend time with family, friends, and neighbors, to raise awareness and funding for services that help coach individuals into successful jobs in their community. This event will be a hybrid event that incorporates both in-person and virtual elements:

In-Person Turkey Trot (November 25, 2021): Stay tuned for more information. Virtual Turkey Trot (11/25/21 – 12/2/2021): 5K Run or 2M Walk anywhere you wish.

The Center for Educational Advancement has the unfortunate news that we will be cancelling our 4th Annual 5K Spring Training Race. Currently we do not have enough participants registered and we are less than a month away. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.
Although we are cancelling one of the 3 major fundraisers that we hold annually, we are excited to announce some new family fun events coming up from CEA later this year. Once the weather begins warming up we will be holding a monthly Family Movie
Night Under the Stars, where families will be able to bring their blankets and chairs to watch current movies on a projector screen located in nature at one of our main locations in Flemington, NJ. We will also be holding some events during the summer and fall involving food trucks, live music, local breweries and more!!! In addition we will also have a few other virtual and surprise pop up events throughout the year. To keep up with all the details and dates of the upcoming events we plan on having this year, please follow Like and Follow our page on Facebook

Spring is a time of new beginnings and growth; a time when nature offers us a glimpse of hope with buds in the trees and flowers starting to poke out of the ground; and a time that renews our faith that things are going to be alright and often inspires us to begin again.
CEA is a not-for-profit organization with the mission to provide pathways to community employment for students & adults with disabilities. We're asking you to join us on March 19th, the day before the first day of Spring, and run your best 5K or walk your best 2M in support of new beginnings and opportunities for individuals with disabilities that want to work.
As we count the days until Spring's arrival, we're continually inspired by the individuals we serve and hopeful that more employment opportunities will begin to emerge for people with disabilities. This event is an opportunity for runners and walkers to partner with CEA in providing Supported and Pre-Employment programs throughout Somerset, Hunterdon and Middlesex Counties. We hope our work inspires you to get more people involved by forming a team or creating your own social media fundraiser!
Your registration and donations will support our most critical operating needs, will enable us to continue serving over 225 families a year with person focused employment strategies, and ensuring that job placements are both meaningful and obtainable for individuals with disabilities regardless of the circumstances

2020 CEA & Johanna Foods "Flock to Flemington" Turkey Trot Virtual Challenge

The CEA Turkey Trot is celebrating the 28th anniversary of this Thanksgiving Classic this year in an unusual way, to match the unusual year we have all been having. With the unwelcome arrival of COVID-19, we are taking the Turkey Trot on the road--all roads--and creating the Turkey Trot Experience. We invite everybody to join us as we celebrate the 28th Annual Turkey Trot as part of a Virtual Challenge event.

Each year thousands of proud Turkey Trotters have gathered in Flemington to run and walk up an appetite for the Thanksgiving holiday festivities while helping raise awareness and much-needed funds for CEA's employment programs that benefit hundreds of individuals with disabilities each year. Since 1993, over 89,000 people have participated in the events. This year we invite you to continue this holiday tradition, with friends and family members, and join the Turkey Trot Virtual Challenge. Flight One will depart from eight locations on October 12, 2020 and will give participants 45 days of online fun to record their times and distances as they travel (the distance) from as far away as Plymouth, MA or Williamsburg, VA to as close as Morristown, NJ or Philadelphia, PA or one of several other points along the way to Flemington, all associated with our Colonial and Revolutionary past. Flight Two, for the faster “fliers” will depart all starting towns on November 1, 2020. The object is for everyone to Flock to Flemington and enjoy a virtual Thanksgiving together this year in anticipation of returning to the streets and running or walking as a group once again very soon.

The CEA/Johanna Foods Turkey Trot is the largest such event in NJ. Together we can make it the largest in historic America and help people with disabilities who have been particularly hard hit by job and opportunity losses in the pandemic crisis find new community employment opportunities in 2021. On behalf of those we serve, Thanks, and Happy Thanksgiving Season.
