If you were wondering whether Winnie still lives in the house, the answer is yes. 💕

She still has her very own bed. She still sleeps inside. She still wakes up every morning with the confidence of a pig who knows she has me wrapped around her hoof. 🥰

In fact, this was Winnie enjoying a slow morning from the comfort of her bed today.

We often call her Winnie the Wonder Pig because she's living the dream that was made famous by Esther the Wonder Pig. Long before many people knew that pigs could be loving, intelligent family members, Esther helped change hearts and minds simply by being herself. She showed the world that pigs deserve the same love, comfort, and respect as any other companion animal.

Winnie has always been one of Esther's biggest fans (or at least we like to think so). We're grateful that Esther's legacy lives on through pigs like Winnie; pink, spoiled, adored, and completely convinced that every bed in the house belongs to her.

And honestly? She's not entirely wrong. 😆🐖🩷

Sorry I've been a bit checked out recently. Yesterday, we learned that our cat, Sam Fisher, has aggressive, terminal cancer, and it's been incredibly difficult to process.

Sam Fisher was the first cat Malcolm and I rescued nearly 15 years ago. He was a tiny, fluffy white kitten at the shelter, and we fell in love with him immediately. He's been by our side through so much, including our big move from North Carolina to Kentucky.

He is my heart.

Truly, he's the sweetest, silliest cat you'll ever meet. He loves catnip, basking in the sunshine, and being held. If he's in my arms, he'll purr forever. Right now, more than anything, I wish I could put every other responsibility on hold and spend every moment with him.

Because the cancer has spread to his lymph nodes and lungs, and because he's almost 15 years old, further treatment simply isn't an option. He struggled with the anesthesia required for his CT scan, and both we and our veterinarian feel confident that his body would not tolerate radiation or chemotherapy. We've been told we may have a few weeks left with him, possibly a month.

We've started him on four different medications, including a Chinese herbal supplement, in hopes of managing his symptoms and giving us a little more time together. This morning, he ate his breakfast enthusiastically and has been seeking out cuddles and affection. He's still got s***k. He still has a desire to be here. As long as he is comfortable and enjoying life, we will cherish every single moment we have with him. And when he tells us he's ready, we'll help him pass peacefully and with dignity, surrounded by love.

I'm devastated and struggling to navigate the grief that comes with loving animals so deeply. Please be patient with me as I spend as much time as possible with Sam Fisher and our family in the coming weeks.

As painful as this is, I'm so grateful to have been his mom for nearly 15 years and to have given him a beautiful life. I just wish it could be longer. 💔

Hello from beautiful Gertie 🥰

Today, we are feeling really thankful for some absolutely gorgeous weather here in Kentucky. The sun is out, there's a nice breeze, and it's not too hot! ☀️

What are you feeling thankful for today? ❤️

❤️ Fundraiser Update ❤️

First of all, how sweet is this video of our Moo People? 😭 The way they boop noses is just killing me. They are the sweetest beans. 🥹

I've been so excited to share an update and have been waiting for some final paperwork to come through before announcing it!

We set a goal of $10,000 to have a shade structure built, electricity installed in our barn, and to purchase fans and other hot-weather supplies. It may not be the most exciting fundraiser, but keeping animals safe from extreme heat is absolutely essential.

Thanks to our incredible community, we have raised $8,712 toward our goal! This includes donations from supporters, a generous $2,500 matching donor, and an amazing foundation that sponsored the installation of electricity in our barn as well as fans for each individual stall.

I am truly blown away by the kindness and generosity you've shown. Thank you. ❤️

The shade structure is being built this Saturday (yay!), and I'm already working with the electric company and installer to get the ball rolling on the barn. I can't explain how much of a difference these improvements are going to make for all of our sweet babies.

We now have just $1,288 left to reach our goal.

The remaining funds will be used to purchase sunscreen (we're currently going through about 1.5 tubs every single day 😅), additional shade sails, misting equipment, and fresh produce to help keep everyone cool during the hottest days of summer. If you'd prefer to help by sending supplies directly, I've also added many of these items to our Amazon wishlist.

Let's beat the heat together and make sure every beautiful soul at Figgy Farm stays safe, comfortable, and cool this summer. 💦☀️🐮🐷

Today is one of those days where the weight of it all feels especially heavy.

Twenty-three pigs call Figgy Farm home. Twenty-three individual lives with needs, personalities, friendships, medical records, preferences, and stories. Caring for just those 23 pigs is a full-time commitment that consumes nearly every aspect of my life.

And that's what breaks my heart.

Because when you understand what it takes to care for 23 pigs, it's impossible not to think about the thousands being killed every minute around the world. Some days that reality sits quietly in the background. Other days it sits at the forefront and feels impossible to carry.

I know I need to focus on the lives I can save. I know that is where meaningful change happens. But knowing that doesn't always silence the grief that comes with understanding the scale of animal suffering. I don't really have a solution today. I don't have an inspiring message or a neat way to tie all of these feelings together. I just know that sometimes the world feels overwhelming, and I know I'm not the only one feeling that way.

What helps is remembering that none of us are carrying this alone. There are people all over the world choosing compassion. People speaking up, changing habits, supporting sanctuaries, rescuing animals, and refusing to look away.

So thank you.

Thank you for supporting Figgy Farm. Thank you for caring about the animals who call this place home. Thank you for believing that their lives matter.

Some days feel heavier than others.

But tomorrow we'll get up, fill the feed buckets, open the gates, hand out the treats, and keep going.

And as long as I'm able, I'll never stop fighting for them.
