The Gilded Age! A period in U.S. history from the late 1870s to the late 1890s, characterized by rapid economic growth, industrialization, and significant social issues, including political corruption and inequality. It was also a time characterized by the plumed hat which launched the millinery business and became a standard item for women’s daywear. Bob Scallan, VP of the Historical Society of Orange Park, transported us to the Gilded Age, an era when high fashion was a symbol of wealth, status, and social influence. We also enjoyed a delicious Chick-fil-A Eagle Harbor breakfast and hope you will join us at a future meeting!
