June is Dairy Month and even the youngest member of our family here at Kirbyville is celebrating with her new Jersey calf!

Another great cow is gone. Underground Hollys Hope passed away on Wednesday. Thank you to Jim and Tammie Dunn for taking such awesome care of her over the years. We know that she will be missed very much by your family, especially by all of the Dunn grandchildren who loved to walk her back and forth to the barn each day to be milked. 😢

Today was classification day at Kirbyville. This was the first time we ever had 4 new Excellent cows at once. We also had 5 cows scored 88 points. All of these were 3 year olds. We had 3 new VG two year olds and 9 more two year olds scored at 83 points.

Our Red and White Holsteins had a good day!

Senior three year old, Sixcorner Frizz Sofia-Red, went EX90 with an EX MAM.
Five year old, Locust-Ayr Absolut Mary-Red, went EX90 with and EX MAM.

I realize that our name is “Kirbyville Holsteins”, but we also have a couple nice Jerseys in the barn! Today was classification day for them. Our 6 year old, SSF Boeheim Candace (Candy), scored 93 only 5 days fresh! Her Colton daughter, Caramel, a Jr. 2 year old scored 86.
Milk & Honey Minister Shirley’s daughter, Shilpa, a Sr. 2 year old scored 86 ~ 10 days fresh!
The Jersey that we own with and is housed with the Dunn Family, Underground Holly’s Hope, was scored Excellent 95! Her Verdict daughter, Kirbyville Hopes Havana, scored 87!
It was a great day for our Jerseys!

We were so excited last night to get this Backflip "O" heifer calf. She is the daughter of a Solomon, who is the daughter of Reu-Hel Alexander O'Darling. Some of you know about JIm and his "first love", Plushanski Mark Oriya, who he bought in 1988. This calf is a descendent of her. Thank you Connie Troutman for giving us the opportunity to have O'Darling and get back into the "O" family. Welcome Kirbyville Backflip Opal !!!

HOLY COW . . . Winter calves aren’t the only babies due at Kirbyville this December. We are excited for Andy and Lacey, who will be welcoming Baby Younker in December too!

Today we had to say goodbye to one of our favorite cows, Windy Knoll View Prudence. She was a beautiful black heifer that turned into a cow with a heart of gold. She was always the cow we went to when visitors wanted to "milk a cow". She was always gentle. She was Joels cow and he will always remember her being Junior Champion at the Grand National Junior Holstein Show in Louisville in 2010! We will miss you Prudence...
