Structure fires can happen at all times of the day and night! So we train day and night to be ready for them! Your Flat Rock Firefighters were training tonight on search and rescue techniques as well as hose advancement in a house that is provided for us to train in by Padlock Storage! A fog machine was used to simulate low to no visibility situations and multiple evolutions of scenarios of trapped people were acted out and completed successfully!

City of Flat Rock Snow Emergency declared:

Sunday, January 25th at 12:00 midnight until Monday, January 26th at 12:00 midnight.

Snow Emergency declaration means that all vehicles must be removed from all public roads. This allows our Department of Public Works to safely and effectively clear the roads. Please be patient while staff works diligently to get our roads clean and safe.

Flat Rock Fire Department is growing — and we are looking for dedicated firefighters to
join a high-performing, community-focused team. We staff four budgeted firefighters
on duty, 24 hours a day, providing Advanced Life Support transport for our
residents. Whether you are looking for a full-time career or a flexible part-time
schedule, we have opportunities for you. Lateral transfer of time honored both full-
time and part-time applicants.

Full-Time Firefighters:
• Earn up to $84,350 base wage on a 53-hour schedule, plus scheduled 5% raise in
2027.

• 48 hours of personal time
• 120 hours of sick time annually
• Longevity pay and education reimbursement.

• $2,000 paramedic bonus, boot allowance & cleaning bonus
Part-Time Firefighters:
• Earn up to $26.44 per hour.
• Work for up to 36 hours per week, with overtime opportunities.

• Boot bonus, cleaning bonus, and $2,000 medic bonus.
• Lateral transfer of service time accepted from full-time departments.

Yesterday, your Flat Rock firefighters received a new 2025 Spartan S-180 fire engine. We at FRFD would like to thank Chief Welton, Mayor Beller, City administrator Brian Marciniak, State Representative Jamie Thompson, State Senator Darrin Camilleri & Dave from R&R fire truck repair for all contributing to this process.

With our last engine being in service over 30 years, this upgrade was much needed and we are excited to be able to assist the citizens of Flat Rock more proficiently with updated equipment.
