The board meets once a month on the 3rd Monday at the Louse Creek Golf Club House at 6:00. The Park Board collaboratively works with other entities, such as the Flasher School, City Commission, local churches, youth organizations (4-H, Girl Scouts) and civic groups for community betterment and wellness. The Park Board has obtained many grants. Two of the grants were used in the city park to remove
diseased/dead trees and replace them. One of the grants was used for trees in the Flasher Friends and Family Courtyard (located downtown on Main Street). The courtyard has been an ongoing labor of love for the members. What initially started as cleaning up a vacant lot years ago, has become a local attraction for the community. It is an ideal location for family picnics, group meetings (4-H, Girl Scouts, and church youth groups), Summerfest activities, and our Music in the Park events. The Flasher American Legion supported the Veteran's Memorial Rock located front and center in the courtyard. The efforts of many community members has allowed the Park Board to complete a new addition to the Courtyard, a half-court basketball court for our youth. The fundraising efforts began in October with the Try Thai Dinner event at the Highway 21 Club. Our energetic youth (boy's and girl's basketball teams) provided quality service to our guests, serving the five course meal that was prepared by two very talented local chefs, Penny Mullaney and Cory Banning. It was a very successful kick-off fundraiser. We have made the picnic space handicap accessible by pouring a concrete slab and a walkway from
the sidewalk sloped to the tables, and replacing the canvas awning with a permanent shelter. Another grant we have received has allowed us to buy a mower for the upkeep of our lovely outdoor areas. Please watch for further events being hosted, or sponsored by the Flasher Park Board. If you are interested in donating, or getting involved in Flasher Summer Youth, or wanting to provide an Adult Education session- please contact one of the Park Board members. Better yet come to a park board meeting. Members:
