Blast from the Past;
Who Remembers. The Flandreau High School as being the Civil Air Patrol Band for a year? 1969-1970. A very interesting event for the community and FHS band.

Was a once in a lifetime experience for a lot of kids!

A display was set up at the Moody County Historical Society & Museum about the event that took place. Stop in and learn more about it and remember the memories as you browse thru the information about that year the band participated!
Quite an interesting story you will find.

Please note the two upcoming events hosted by the Moody County Genealogy Society. You are all welcome to join us. Amber Oldenburg is a very knowledgeable and wonderful presenter.

The presentation will be September 19, 2026 and also October 17, 2026.

Both of these events will be held at the Moody County Museum, 706 East Pipestone Ave., Flandreau, SD.

SD State Fair 2026 in September. The SD Genealogical Society is having a booth at the State Fair. Information is below about it. Will keep updates in the next few months for reminders.

250 Years of US.

The South Dakota State Fair is coming up. September 2-7. We are celebrating 250 Years of US. Our ancestors came to this country and helped make it what it is today. Please submit any photos, articles, family history for our scrapbook pages that will be on the wall in the SD Genealogical Society’s booth this year. You can email them to me at [email protected]..

If you would like to help at the booth this year, please email me at the address above. The booth is open from 9am to 8pm in the Arts and Education Building. Shifts are usually 3 to 4 hours. This is a good way to talk to people about genealogy and help bring attention to our societies. If you have questions or would like to help, please email me at the above address.
