Good evening beautiful people
We have a family special to Announce
For Tommorow honoring Bruce Allen
Bruce Allen is a Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribal member. He graduated from Mount Marty Community College with Business Administration and later obtained his MBA and Masters in Health Administration at the University of South Dakota. Bruce began working at the Flandreau Indian Health Services as the first health administrator in 1994. In 1998, Bruce began his journey of being a contractor and establishing Allen Steel Construction Co. During this time, Bruce welcomed his daughter Marilyn, and later welcomed his sons, David (2001 ) and Julian (2007).
Bruce has been an avid runner since 1997. After welcoming his children, he took a break to spend more time with them outside of work. In 2010, Bruce began running again, like always pushing himself to the next level, began his marathon training and running. Once that got to be easy Bruce started Iron Man Triathlons. All together Bruce ran his business, was a full time father, ran races, and the biggest supporter of youth extracurriculars activities. He has coached football and basketball for his son Julian's teams, also stepping up to coach a middle school girls basketball team after learning there wasn't any coaches.
To speak to Bruce's character, he is known in Moody County as someone that is very caring, very helpful and someone that is always there when needed.
As Bruce's children got older, he was able to travel more to accomplish his goals of completing a marathon in each continent. Bruce completed that goal in June of 2023, to which he decided he needed another challenge. This led to the great world race which consisted of running a marathon each day for a week in each continent. 7 days. 7 marathons. 7 continents.
Bruce is also known for his work in the past on starting the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribal College in the 90s, starting efforts for youth cultural trips and advocating for the betterment of youth and their futures.
Bruce's family wants to recognize him and his endeavors in being a good relative and supporting the community humbly but with great passion to better serve everyone to ensure a better life for all.
Please join them in honoring Bruce at 11:30 am Saturday morning of the wacipi and a meal to follow.
(We will be handing out lunch sacks since people will be getting ready for grand entry)
