Kappa Xi Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia

Kappa Xi Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Kappa Xi Chapter at Northern Arizona University Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia is the world’s oldest and largest secret national fraternal society in music.

Sinfonia was born on October 6, 1898, at the New England Conservatory in Boston, when a group of thirteen young men under the guidance of Ossian Everett Mills "to consider the social life of the young men students of that institution [and] to devise ways and means by which it might be improved." Sinfonia became a national fraternity on October 6, 1900, with the admission of a group of men at the B

road Street Conservatory in Philadelphia. For over a century, Sinfonians in nearly every field of study and professional endeavor have transformed music in America. The opportunity of becoming a Sinfonian is offered to as many men as possible who, through a love for music, can assist in the fulfillment of the Fraternity’s Object and ideals either by adopting music as a profession, or by working to advance the cause of music in America.

Words cannot describe what is felt when you are informed of a tragedy happening at your own school. Positive thoughts and prayers are made in memory of the person that lost their life and those who have been injured. We should always feel safe at home, school, profession and anywhere we are called to be. When your safety is shattered, your world is destroyed. Stay safe and know that there is always someone for you to lean on in our brotherhood.

Happy Founder's Day to all of the Sinfonians that are spread across the world. We enter our 118th year as an organization and look to further the Object of our Fraternity. I am sure we are all excited for the wonderful things that are to come.

The chapter would like to remember those that have fallen in the line of duty. The strength to put one's life on the line for what you believe in has inspired us and will continue to inspire many generations to come. We would not be able to spread music through America if our nation did not exist. All of our fallen heroes have ensured our freedom to live unafraid through their examples.

You will never be forgotten.
