To all members of Post 2000:

It is my sad duty to relay to you that Post 2000's Founder and Charter Member Richard "Fergie" Ferguson passed away at approximately 1200 hours today. Anna and Gavin asked that I pass this and the following on to you. As you were all aware, Fergie had been battling cancer for the past several years. Three different times he was in remission. This time however, nothing could stop it. Fergie will be buried in the family plot in Illinois. Arrangements have been made and I was assured by Gavin and Anna that if there was anything or any assistance needed they would call me.

In a few weeks (three or four) they are planning on having a celebration of Fergie's life and asked that SAMS do the honors at that time. This will take place at their home. One thing for sure, we will have a bagpiper in that honors service, rifle squad, Navy "Watch" Flag folding and Presentation. I will keep everyone informed as to the exact date, etc. In the meantime keep Anna and Gavin in your prayers. In a few days I will talk to Rex about helping with the Honors for Fergie.

If you have any questions, call me.

Respectfully,
A Comrade and Friend,
Geroge Gary Shoemaker

Funeral services will be conducted for Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf at the United States Military Academy at West Point in New York.

On Tuesday a West Point spokesman said that the retired general's family has scheduled the funeral for Feb. 28. Schwarzkopf was a now famous graduate of West Point Military Academy.

Schwarzkopf commanded our U.S.-led international coalition, destroying Saddam Hussein's forces and removing them from Kuwait in 1991. He passed away just last January.

The General retired in Tampa Florida, where he had served in his last active duty assignment as head of U.S. Central Command.

General Schwarzkopf rejected all suggestions that he run for public office.
