We want to thank you all for not only your support along the way, but for getting out and voting to make Flagstaff housing affordable for our workforce. Remember, polling places are open until 7 pm tonight.

Tomorrow you have a big decision to make - should Flagstaff should put aside money that will specifically address our housing challenge? By voting yes, you won't be increasing your taxes; this is an initiative that won't start collecting money until other bonds sunset and therefore will not change your tax burden. But you will be helping to remove the barriers to the housing that is desperately needed by key members of our community, like teachers.

Affordable housing is a critical issue for our community now and it has been for many years. While there's no perfect single solution to address the housing challenges in Flagstaff, I support the Prop 422 Housing Bond as an important tool to promote more housing opportunities that wage increases alone simply cannot achieve. Prop 422 strikes the appropriate balance between responsible oversight of taxpayer dollars and the flexibility needed for a twenty-year housing investment. With the high costs of housing pushing out many residents, this bond will help Flagstaff promote a more equitable and vibrant community for us all to call home.- Ashley DeBoard
