Today we went out to leupp to help Northern Arizona Animal Search and Rescue catch a stray dog. But once on scene we had another abandoned dog there that was very interested in the food. So need less to say we rescued this sweet girl. Named nibbles. And has now been taken into the loving care at High Country Humane.

We are pig rescue people. You don't have to understand us... We know the importance of having meds on hand since a lot of vets won't treat mini pigs. We have no problem eating a sandwich while or directly after cleaning crates and pens. We are not welcome in laundromats. We can lower or raise our voice instantly by 5 octaves to shout at two pigs fighting or even thinking about it over who knows what. We would sooner quit a relationship than our piggies in need. We talk to our transport van like it's our spouse and pet the dash lovingly to make it up the hill. We have better insurance for our home and animals than for our vehicles. We know more about our animal's diets than our own. We buy veggies, fruits, & pig food before buying our own food. It’s common to see us wearing snout marks & mud covered clothes in public. We know that hearing that chuff of love from a pig & the immediate fall for a belly rub is the best cure for depression. We get along better with animals than people. We are quick to lend a hand in a crisis. A new vehicle is a luxury but is hauling sick animals, crates and feed within two days of getting it. More written notes are scribbled on a dry erase board than on paper. We will always make time for an animal first, then a friend. We are more fierce than a momma grizzly with threatened cubs if you abuse an animal and we hear about it. Our handshake is our bond. We are real. We are pig rescuers.............

Update on Dave: A Second Chance at Home 🐴❤️

We're overjoyed to share that Dave is finally home, and we're pouring all our love and care into his recovery! 🐾💕 After navigating a tough bout of sand colic, he's starting his journey back to health with a special care plan. For the next 4 days, Dave will be on a gentle diet of pellets, mash with psyllium, and senior feed to soothe his system and help him regain his strength. We'll also be adding electrolytes to keep him hydrated and comfortable.

Once he's stable, we'll gradually reintroduce hay, monitoring his response closely. Our goal is to get all the sand out of his system over the next few weeks, and with careful management, we're hopeful he'll make a full recovery! 🌟

This road to recovery comes with significant expenses—vet bills, special feed, and ongoing care are adding up. We're facing a substantial debt, and every bit of support brings Dave closer to his happy, healthy self. If you're able, your contribution can make a tangible difference in his journey. Beautiful day to a beautiful ending.

So I’d like to speak on a situation that we have been navigating the last two weeks.
As some of you know we were made aware of a situation where this family had 4 pigs. And we had been asked if we could assist. There was one pig in particular that had been expressing some medical concerns so that was my immediate reason to step up and help.

Mind you. Our number one priority is try to ensure the best healthiest possible outcome to help keep pigs in home. And we as a business model have devoted our resources,personal time and love and dedication to ensuring we provide everything we can to ensure that as an option.

Pigs are emotional
They remember
They recognize faces
They have feelings and get depressed
Hold grudges. And have feelings.

So the situation presented was a definite need to make a decision to take on 4 more pigs. And with the amazing financial veterinary assistance from Mt girl rescue that stepped up and backed us to ensure that Dakota was going to be ok and get assessment and removal done.

The owners loved these pigs. We’re doing everything that they had thought was loving care.
And let this be said.

Education is key. Saves life’s.
The pigs were so loved they got to have a very rich and snack filled diet. Which in turn made the pigs be morbidly obese and could use a manicure 💅

Even thought there is a stipulation that pigs can eat everything. That’s very untrue.

They need to be fed a healthy diet that consists of a variety of veggies fruits and pig specific commercial pellets. (Mind you there is I’m sure a healthier raw or non commercial option )so we removed the pigs with a signed surrender agreement.

Sassy right away once evaluated and set in quarantine was presenting immediate sadness and depression.

We had voiced this to previous owners under the agreement to allow approved schedule appointments. Upon his first visit he too noticed her grief of the removal. My first priority is the animals. I’m the voice for the voiceless. So observing from my personal opinion there’s nothing that poses a as purposeful neglect or abuse. And felt that despite sassys weight, Presenting medical concern. Wasn’t something I felt wouldn’t be able to help educate and change behavior and habits.
I agreed to replacement with the home.

And let me just say. The whole purpose of of my life’s mission is to have happy endings where pigs get to stay in home.

So I’m happy and tearful to announce.
Even though behind the curtains. It wasn’t drama free or easy. Sassy got to go home with and very strict diet and adoption agreement.

We will be monitoring this journey as she and her owners navigate a healthy reset.
