Bringing Community Together 🌽🐑

Last week at the 3rd annual Northern AZ Farmer & Rancher Resource Fair, we gathered alongside local producers, partners, and advocates to share knowledge, build connections, and strengthen our regional food system. This event centered on supporting the people who grow and raise our food, while creating space to connect with resources and share ideas.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, shared their expertise, and continues to invest in a more resilient, connected agricultural community!

A special shout out to our partners who helped make this event possible, Flagstaff Family Food Center, Pinnacle Prevention, Flagstaff Sustainability Office, and Coconino County Cooperative Extension.

What started as an attempt to reduce waste turned into such an amazing yearly tradition!

The story 👇
A few years ago tasked me with finding a home for all the excess hops growing at Colton Garden. Her and I both dislike seeing food go to waste. So I reached out to the only person I could think of!
Not only was he beyond excited to harvest some local native hops but he pitched the idea of doing a community collaboration!! Ryan along with other brewers at DSB came out and picked hops and we had such a great time. Along came the idea of the garden variety hops sour. When I say this is my favorite sour ever I say that with purpose. It is so incredibly delicious, smooth and perfectly sour. Combine that with the amazing art style of and you have an award winning beer! We are truly so grateful for and all they do for us and our community. If you have the chance this week go sit outside in the BEAUTIFUL weather, soak up some sun and grab a garden variety! You won’t regret it 🙌

Great weekend learning about growing potatoes 🌱
Thank you to Tolani Lake Enterprise for collaborating with us to share their knowledge on different mechanisms and strategies to successfully grow potatoes in our region, along with sharing insights on managing gophers and birds.

This would not have been possible without amazing presenters like Rymond and Harvey, along with our community partner, .

This marks our first beginning farmer and rancher workshop of this year. Stay tuned for more 🌻

This workshop was supported by the USDA NIFA Beginning Farmer and Rancher Development Program 👩🏽‍🌾
