Sage Home

Sage Home Sage Home will be a safe and supportive community alternative to child removal, where families can address substance abuse issues while living together.

Sage Home aims to foster healthy family attachments in the midst of walking through the difficulties that inevitably come with substance abuse. Families are given a space to engage with the community and with each other as they discover how to be empowered and to move forward towards a meaningful, sober, and connected future.

The Verde Villages believes in the power of people and the positive change that happens when we come together for a common good. They create consistent spaces where anyone can come get items/clothing for their babies and children completely for free!

By focusing on their 3 pillars (Community, Compassion, and Change), The Verde Villages works to build and serve their community, know and understand where these people are coming from and the challenges they face, and inspire others to also be the change they wish to see!

Sage Home is grateful for the amazing work that Flagstaff Shelter Services is doing to end homelessness in Coconino County! Flagstaff Shelter Services is open all day, every day, ready to provide emergency shelter and services to all people in crisis, regardless of faith, sobriety or mental health and give them the tools and resources needed to move out of homelessness for good.

They provide life-saving, life-changing services to 2,000 individuals each year. Twenty percent of our clients are US veterans. Many are women, most of whom have escaped domestic or sexual violence. Every one of them has value. Flagstaff Shelter Services acknowledges the possibilities in all of their clients. If we invest in them, the eradication of homelessness in Flagstaff is possible, too.

It costs us $6 a night to provide emergency shelter to someone experiencing homelessness. For $2,500, we can give someone a fresh start in a new home. Thanks to the Arizona Charitable Tax Credit, you can give without (really) spending a dime. Individuals who give up to $400 to eligible charities like Flagstaff Shelter Services and be credited back, dollar for dollar the following year.

Northland Family Help Center's mission is to provide safe haven, advocacy, counseling, and education to promote and restore healthy relationships. They envision a community where all people live in safety, where all forms of violence have been eradicated, and where healthy families and individuals serve as the foundation of a vibrant and productive community.
NFHC currently has 40 beds in their Domestic Violence Shelter and Youth Shelter combined serving individuals and families of all genders. They strive to practice trauma-informed care across all aspects of their work. Their counseling, legal advocacy, and community education programs all serve residents in both shelters, in addition to the larger Northern Arizona community. In 2017, Northland began housing the local collaborative Flagstaff Initiative Against Trafficking (FIAT), in order to intervene in human trafficking and exploitation.
Northland Family Help Center celebrated 40 years of service in 2018. NFHC is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and they are also a qualified organization for the Arizona Charitable Tax Credit. This is a dollar-for-dollar tax credit allowing you to donate to qualified Arizona organizations, and claim a dollar-for-dollar state tax credit of up to $800 if married filing jointly, or $400 if filing individually!

Have you heard of the Lullaby Project? This season, the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra will serve as a national partner in the Lullaby Project, a program of Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute that pairs pregnant women and new mothers and fathers with professional artists to write personal lullabies for their babies. The participants are offered a creative opportunity to communicate feelings, hopes, and dreams as they look to the future with their child. The Lullaby Project supports maternal health, aids childhood development, and strengthens the bond between parent and child.

FSO is delighted to partner with The NARBHA Institute to bring the Lullaby Project to Flagstaff. In this version of the project, pregnant women, new mothers, and their families will work with artists to write personal lullabies for their children. The lullabies will then be professionally arranged, recorded, and shared in a celebratory public performance featuring FSO musicians.

We had the sweet opportunity to see the process in action and interview the symphony member who helped this mother write a song! We will be sharing some sweet video footage soon! More details on this project at flagstaffsymphony.org/lullaby-project
