"Every Brilliant Thing" by Duncan Macmillan with Jonny Donahoe, takes you through the story of a mother struggling with the dark moments of depression and thoughts of su***de, but from the child’s point of view bringing in humor and hope. The story brings vulnerable moments of life to the stage for audience members to experience wholeheartedly. Each performance can bring different experiences for audience members because it relies on audience involvement.

The Flagstaff production of Every Brilliant Thing welcomes Matthew Windham as the director and stars AJ Flores. Hear what they both have to say about our next show.

What is a key takeaway you hope the audience gets when they watch this performance?

“I hope the audience is reminded of the simple joys. Oftentimes in today’s world we focus on the big moments or the big picture and we often forget those tiny things throughout the day that make each day special. It’s the small things that make the big picture worthwhile.”

The show balances dark moments with lots of humor, how do you find that same balance when rehearsing/directing scenes?

“You have to trust the writing—and it helps to start with such a carefully crafted, smartly structured script. I primarily direct comedies, but I try to avoid telling the audience where to laugh. If you're being truthful rather than artificially layering gags and comic bits into the play, the audience will find the material relatable AND organically laugh where they find it funny."

We were honored to award Williams High School senior and co-valedictorian Aiden Uebel our first place award for our annual Art Contest this year! Aiden will be attending Arizona State University this fall to study Sports Business on his way to becoming a professional baseball general manager. Congratulations Aiden!

WILLIAMS – Local scholarship sponsors pledged a record $35,000 to Williams High School students this year. Combined with other scholarships, a total of $600,000 in future education funding were given

We were grateful to join the staff at Thomas Elementary this past week for their Shine Squad Service Day! This sensory space in the front office for students is one of a few projects we were able to support this year! Several of us are former Thomas Tigers and it has been a great honor to be able to give back to the current and future students who will get to benefit from these new spaces. They have some other great projects in the works to support these students that we can’t wait to share. Thank you to Mrs. Malkhassian and the rest of the team for inviting us out!

The 3rd Annual Art Flores Memorial Art Contest is now open, and we want to see YOUR interpretation of mental health.

Mental health looks and feels different for everyone. Through art, storytelling, movement, and creativity, we can help normalize conversations, raise awareness, and remind people they are not alone.

This contest honors the legacy of Art “Tooter” Flores—a lifelong resident of Flagstaff and Williams whose creativity touched everything he did. Today, the Art Flores Memorial Foundation continues that legacy by uplifting communities and supporting mental health awareness.

✨ Create anything that expresses your perspective:
• Painting
• Digital art
• Creative writing
• Sculpture
• Essay or short story
• Dance or performance (pre-recorded)
• …or any other artistic medium!

💰 Up to $2,500 in cash prizes will be awarded to winners.
