Today, our CCJ family is mourning the loss of a very special friend.

Tye, the beloved companion of our Lodges tenant, Tom, has passed away. Through years of both housing and homelessness, Tye never left Tom's side. They faced life's challenges together, and their bond was a beautiful reminder of the unconditional love and loyalty that animals bring into our lives.

Tye wasn't just Tom's dog, he was a friend to everyone who met him. Whether he was wagging his happy tail around the Lodges, enjoying a walk with his dad, or greeting neighbors with enthusiasm, Tye brought joy wherever he went. He had a way of making people smile and reminding us all of the simple gifts of companionship and love.

Tom rescued Tye years ago, but if you ask Tom, he'll tell you that Tye rescued him. Their story is a powerful reminder that healing, hope, and connection often come on four legs.

Our hearts are with Tom during this difficult time, as well as the many residents and staff who loved seeing Tye every day. He will be deeply missed.

Tye's life also reminds us why housing matters, not just for people, but for their beloved pets. Housing is healthcare. It provides stability, safety, and the opportunity for people and animals to stay together through life's hardest moments and its greatest joys.

Run free, sweet Tye. Thank you for the love, friendship, and countless tail wags. ❤️🐾

For our fixed-income community members, especially single senior women, access to affordable housing remains a growing concern.

Many rely on Social Security, but what they receive often isn’t enough to keep pace with local rent rates.

While our doors are open to all at CCJ, we’re seeing more seniors turn to us for support — a reminder that housing stability is a community issue.

A stronger Prescott is one where our neighbors of every age have a safe, stable place to call home.

CCJ is honored to be one of the nonprofit recipients of this year’s 2nd Annual 5enses Gala of Giving!

This community-powered evening will bring together live music, a silent auction, raffle, and local generosity in support of Northland Cares, the Coalition for Compassion and Justice (CCJ), and the Prescott MLK Peace and Justice Committee.

More than a fundraiser, the Gala of Giving is a celebration of the people, partnerships, and local work that help make Prescott a more caring and connected place.

Each purchased ticket helps strengthen healthcare access, housing support, advocacy, compassion, and justice in our community.

Join us Saturday, June 20, from 6–9 PM at The Federal in downtown Prescott.

Advance tickets are $40 and available through the 5enses event page.

We hope to see you there. 💛

🍩 Happy National Donut Day! 🍩

Today we had the pleasure of celebrating with The Salvation Army and learning about the inspiring history of the Donut Lassies—the Salvation Army volunteers who served donuts and comfort to American soldiers on the front lines during World War I.

National Donut Day was established in 1938 to honor their service, and it remains a reminder of the power of compassion and community.

A heartfelt thank you to The Salvation Army for including CCJ in today’s celebration and for continuing this wonderful tradition. We enjoyed the delicious donuts and the opportunity to honor a legacy of service that continues to make a difference today.

Did you know CCJ is the only local shelter option where dogs can stay with their humans?

We believe in a compassionate approach that recognizes pets as family, too. For many people experiencing homelessness, a dog is not “just a pet.” They are comfort, companionship, safety, and love. 🐾

During their stay with us, furry friends are safely crated and follow a few house rules — treats pending, of course. 😉

Because housing is healthcare. 🤎

CCJ is honored to receive a $30,000 Community Health Improvement Grant from Dignity Health.

This support helps strengthen the work we do every day alongside individuals and families in our community — work rooted in housing, stability, dignity, and care.

We are deeply grateful to Dignity Health for investing in local organizations working to improve lives across Yavapai County, and we’re proud to be part of a community-wide effort to create a stronger, healthier Prescott.

Thank you for believing in this work.

Today, we remember and honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Memorial Day is not only a day of remembrance, but also a reminder of our responsibility to care for those who come home carrying the visible and invisible weight of service.

Thousands of veterans across the United States still experience housing insecurity and homelessness each year — a reality that calls all of us toward compassion, dignity, and community action.

We remember the fallen by continuing the work of building a stronger, more caring community for those who served. 🇺🇸
