In Monterey County, CA, wildlife officials opened up wild pigs to find something surreal - neon blue flesh.

The cause? A blue-dyed rodenticide called Diphacinone, which is still allowed in some agricultural settings. These poisons don’t stop with the intended target. They move through the food chain, harming raptors, mammals, and potentially people.

Stories like this are a reminder that our ecosystems are connected - and when we poison one part, we all feel the effects. Let’s protect our wild neighbors and the balance of nature.

Fairfield, CT is piloting a new approach to managing rodents — fertility control instead of poison — and Wisdom Good Works is proud to be part of the effort. Rather than relying on toxic rodenticides that harm not just rats but also hawks, owls, and even pets, Good Bites uses an all-natural, plant-based animal feed that reduces fertility over time. Our dedicated volunteers are on the ground at Mackle Park, working to make our newest pilot program a success!

In partnership with Audubon Western Everglades and the City of Marco Island, we’re replacing harmful rodenticides with Good Bites, our plant-based contraceptive feed. This 12-month project aims to sustainably manage rodent populations while protecting local wildlife, including the beloved burrowing owls.
