Tis the season!

My goodness, could these two be any cuter?

Mary and Hoss. This is why we try to keep families together. Why we reunite when able. Humans could learn so much from the way they care for one another. Over the many years of being guardians to bovines, we have witnessed firsthand the love, loyalty, playfulness and close bonds that form. What you see here is not an unusual sight amongst all of them. Always together. Grooming one another. Eating together. Exploring together. Playing together.

Keep the door shut, please!

The rain has arrived. Everyone is tucked in and out of this raw, wet and chilly fall weather. We even have the wood stove going in the farmhouse! It’s been tradition to see how long you can hold out, but with the elderly pups and cats we can’t play along anymore. Who else has the heat on? 🔥 🏠

Remember all that fundraising we did this spring/ early summer to replace old busted fencing? So far we have replaced 300’ feet of mangled cattle panels with new 5’ tall rigid panels! More wooded area has been fenced in and we are about half way through the upgrades to the equine area. They are going to be so excited!

The little moos were very curious about what we were up to in the woods. We even found a stray petunia growing beautifully in the pasture. Now that’s flower power!

Thank you again to all who helped make these very important though not very exciting upgrades/ repairs. It’s thanks to you that we can continue building and maintaining the best home possible for the sanctuary residents! 🫶

It’s time to introduce two new faces here at the sanctuary.
Winston and Phineas!

Last month we were contacted by Avenger’s former people asking if we by chance could welcome Winston. Winston and Avenger were youngsters together and Winston was in need of a new home after the loss of one of his primary caregivers. Reunions of family and friends is a big deal to us and of course to those being reunited. Helping folks who just want what’s best for those in their care is also something we aim to do, when able. We sympathize with those who can no longer provide the level of care they once did yet worry where there beloved friends will wind up.

After further discussions were had, we learned there were 4 boys total in need of a new forever home. To help Winston transition here we decided it best to take one his buddies as well. We were able to quickly find a safe, loving forever home for the 2 younger boys with close friends to the sanctuary!

Winston and Phineas have been settling in for a few weeks now and have blended in beautifully! Avenger is thrilled to have his old friend back in his life and vice versa! Welcome home Winston and Phineas!!!

The wind has been a real challenge the past few days.

Madison and I set out to pick up any loose items that could be blown away. As you can see Madison is more into “cleaning” the grass than anything else! 🌱🐖
