Is your child looking to learn how to ride a bike this summer? Join our staff to learn how to ride a bike! Youth ages 5-9 will enjoy learning bike safety, practice balancing, learning how to turn and other basics with and without pedals. Youth will also gain one on one support throughout their biking attempts. With enough practice they will be riding around in no time! Use our bikes and helmets or bring your own. A limited number of bikes and helmets are available.

Date: Wednesday, July 15 - 9:00 - 11:00 am
Location: Lussier Family Heritage Center
Ages: Kindergarten - 3rd Grade
Cost: $30 per child

Yesterday we celebrated five new Bicycle Friendly Business awards. We welcomed Promega Corporation as a Silver BFB, congratulated Fitchburg Family Pharmacy and Delta B**r Lab on their upgrades to Silver, and complimented Adesys and the Fitchburg Chamber of Commerce on their renewals of Silver. Wow, 100% Silver!

A resident reported that there was a tree down across the Capital City State Trail in Fitchburg near the east edge of the State Game Lands (about 0.6 mile west of Syene Rd). (Thank you, Eric!) We reported it to the Dane County Communications Center to be relayed to Dane County Parks. Did anyone ride that stretch this morning who can confirm the blockage has been removed?

Celebrate Bike Month and National Bike to Work Day with the City of Fitchburg with a bike ride to work with the Mayor this Friday, May 15, 2026!

The event will start with assembly at 7:00 a.m. at the McKee Farms Park BCycle station (near the main shelter), and will include a 1-mile ride on Fitchburg's Greenway System to City Hall at 7:15 a.m. and brief remarks, including award presentations to Fitchburg’s newest Bicycle Friendly Businesses, at City Hall about 7:30 a.m.

Tomorrow is Celebrate Trails Day— to Trails Conservancy’s annual springtime celebration of America’s trails—always the fourth Saturday of April. This event is free and runs from 10am to 1pm. It will be great weather to be outside!

We hope you will join the celebration by getting outside and enjoying Fitchburg's trails and multi-use paths!

The Velo UnderRound is a two-level interchange among five regional trails, serving Fitchburg, Madison, Verona, and locations throughout Wisconsin and northern Illinois. Water, rest rooms, air pump, and repair stand with tools are nearby at Fitchburg's Dawley Bike Hub. Epic mountain biking is adjacent at the Dane County Seminole Mountain Bike Park, just south on the Military Ridge Path at Saris Trails, and on the Military Ridge State Trail at Fitchburg’s Quarry Ridge Recreation Area.

Kick off May, Bike Month, with Bike Fitchburg and the Fitchburg Senior Center! We are offering two great events on May 6: our monthly Ride for Joe and a special offering "Learn How to Ride a BCycle". At McKee Farms Park at 9:30 we'll orient you to BCycle e-bikes and the BCycle app and review basic bike riding safety. At 10am, two rides will roll out.
The monthly Ride for Joe will take a 12-20-mile route, including a coffee or lunch stop. You'll need your own bike, helmet, and State Trail Pass.
The special BCycle ride will be a six-mile slow roll by several points of interest to test our new e-bike skills. You must attend the 9:30 orientation and register in advance. Participation is limited to 15.

Madison BCycle is Open for Business!

The City of Fitchburg, WI - Government, Fitchburg Chamber of Commerce, and the Fitchburg business community, with the help of a federal grant, have funded twenty-two (22) BCycle stations across our urban service area.

To celebrate BCycle's 15th anniversary, they are giving free passes to all Dane County residents for the month of April. Now is the perfect time to learn to use this system!

Valid: March 10 – April 30, 2026
Limit: One free pass per adult residing or working in Dane County.

Riders can redeem the offer by downloading the BCycle mobile app and signing up for a Monthly Pass using the promo code. The Monthly Pass provides access to unlimited 60-minute e-bike trips across Madison BCycle’s 110-station network, allowing riders to check out an e-bike from any station using the BCycle app and return it to any available station throughout the region.
