CEF Foundation Drowning Prevention
Trying to develop my own PFD to honor my late son as well as follow the letter of the legislation we had passed known as Christians Law

On July 13, 2007 our 4 year old son Christian passed away from Drowning at a local town run camp. We have started a Non-Profit organization to provide life jackets to all children at all camps, lakes, beaches and town run pools across the state of Massachusetts (Currently not required or wanted). Your donation, monetary or USCG Approved Life Jackets would be greatly appreciated as we strive to sav

e another family from going through this preventable pain. I have also started a Consulting business to help others prevent this preventable tragedy. Please visit my Consulting page for more information. Our son Christian, drowned in our town run camp. He was there for 2 hours on his first day and the 5 staff members and lifeguards didn’t see him. We are in the process here of changing laws and have started a Non-Profit to change some of this law and provide USCG Approved Life Jackets to all lakes and ponds and possibly beaches where kids can get a free loaner jacket. We set it up this way so all children will be safe even if they cant afford to buy one. We are a tax deductible Non-Profit. All proceeds will benefit the Christian E. Frechette Memorial Fund (supporting child water safety programs and safe play for kids). We are asking for your support! Sincerely,

Derek Frechette

So preventable.

So preventable.

This is Christian. Christian and his brother were dropped off at a local Tex summer camp. Their dad, Derek sent his boys with to wear while swimming. A few hours later, police arrived at the Frechette's home to tell them there had been an accident. Christian had been found unconscious in the water not wearing a life jacket. Christian died.

Tina & Derek say, "A life jacket could have prevented this tragedy." The Frechette's created The CEF Foundation that worked to get Christian's Bill passed in the Massachusetts State Senate. Christian’s Bill requires summer caps to have Coast Guard approved life jackets for kids who can’t swim or aren’t yet strong swimmers. It also says camps cannot refuse a life jacket provided by a parent, as was the case with Christian.

Families United to Prevent Drowning is at the watching the swim their hearts out! wants to help and the sport of by starting kids in early and , early education and . The majority of our member orgs are honored to be USA Swimming Foundation partners, National Drowning Prevention Alliance members and partners. Together we are going to exponentially save lives more each year!
