So preventable.
This is Christian. Christian and his brother were dropped off at a local Tex summer camp. Their dad, Derek sent his boys with to wear while swimming. A few hours later, police arrived at the Frechette's home to tell them there had been an accident. Christian had been found unconscious in the water not wearing a life jacket. Christian died.
Tina & Derek say, "A life jacket could have prevented this tragedy." The Frechette's created The CEF Foundation that worked to get Christian's Bill passed in the Massachusetts State Senate. Christian’s Bill requires summer caps to have Coast Guard approved life jackets for kids who can’t swim or aren’t yet strong swimmers. It also says camps cannot refuse a life jacket provided by a parent, as was the case with Christian.
