Friends of the Sturbridge COA The Friends of the Sturbridge Seniors are the fundraising arm of the Council on Aging. Support the Center by becoming a Friend today. ($10.00 membership)

Secretary: Sharon MacDonald Friends of Sturbridge/Fiskdale Seniors is an all-volunteer nonprofit group dedicated to raising funds in helping the older adults in the community.

A few other notices:

1. The Friends of the Sturbridge/Fiskdale COA collaborated with the Sturbridge Events Committee, in having a successful 3rd Annual Home of the Brave 5k Run/Walk on 11/13/21. Race proceeds of $6,063.34 were donated to the Sturbridge Veteran’s Assistance Fund on 1/4/22. We’re looking forward to
having another Veteran’s race in 2022. Several community businesses were great in sponsoring the event, to benefit our Sturbridge Veterans.

2. The Friend's Group now has 41 members, and we’re hoping to increase the membership. We didn’t have our monthly meeting on 1/19/22, due to the senior center being closed.
The senior center is closed 1/4/22 to 1/28/22, and is scheduled to reopen on 1/31/22. We hope to see you at our next scheduled meeting on 2/16/22 @12:30.

3) We have received some thoughtful monetary donations in memory of Pauline Suprenant, who recently passed away in December 2021. Pauline loved the Senior Center and her “Friends”. The donations are donated to a Capital Fund Raising Campaign. The capital fund raising campaign will be to raise funds to outfit the new building with furniture and equipment etc.

Special Notice:

The Board of the Friends of Sturbridge/Fiskdale COA, would appreciate your town vote on 1/24/22, to approve Sturbridge’s Proposition 2 1/2 vote for the expansion and renovation of the Sturbridge Senior Center.

The new Senior Center will offer more needed space for all of the special services provided by the Senior Center for our senior citizens.

*We are pleased to be a recipient of the Southbridge Credit Union’s “12 Days of Giving”. They will be catering an in house lunch. PLEASE SIGN UP BY DECEMBER 10th, 40 PEOPLE MAX.
* The Friends meeting will be at 12:30.
* Sing-Along with Sue will start at 1:30. we welcome Sue back and look forward to seeing her. Thanks Sue, for your piano accompaniment!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We are currently Hosting a fundraiser for Friends Giving. If you are interested in donating, please make a check payable to Friends of Sturbridge Fiskdale Seniors Inc., and mail it to Sturbridge-Fiskdale Senior Center, 480 Main St., Fiskdale, MA 01518.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the Friends of the Sturbridge COA, membership forms can be found at the Sturbridge Senior Center.

Please note that a $10 annual fee has been reinstated this year. Please submit the $10- annual fee with your membership form.

Our next scheduled Friends group meeting will be on November 17 at 12:30 pm.
