10TH ANNUAL GOLF OUTING RESULTS
I apologize for the delayed update regarding our 10th annual golf outing. We are pleased to announce that we raised a total of $42,000 for Riley Grief Services! We are proud to have been able to incrementally increase our donations year after year, and this year was no different.
Thank you to all who have participated in our golf outings - golfers, donors, sponsors, volunteers, strategic planners, etc. - and helped us fulfill our vision of making a meaningful impact in the lives of others in Peyton's name.
Riley Grief Services (RGS) recently shared with Eric and me some of the many ways that our donations have allowed them to grow. We knew it was impactful, but didn't realize the extent of it. From a bigger space and additional staff that allow for therapy for more bereaved families to additional and various types of materials used for therapy (e.g., musical instruments, art supplies, even a therapy dog!, etc.) to grief retreats, and much more - RGS has truly become a gold standard of grief support nationally, and even internationally. The individuals who work there are fully dedicated to their mission and understand the unique needs of individuals grieving the loss of a child. The incredibly low attrition rate at RGS speaks for itself! I just don't have the words to express how wonderful they are, and how much people who have experienced the loss of a child benefit from their help.
As we have stated a few times over the past few months, we will not be hosting a golf outing next year. These golf outings and our foundation have always been about Peyton, and we have always fought hard to balance the time we spend and attention we give to each of our 4 children. The golf outing takes months to plan (in addition to our 2 full-time jobs and the busy lives of our hard-working volunteers) and requires more time than we can give it at this stage in our lives without neglecting our living children. Our mission remains, but how we achieve it - and continue to honor Peyton as we feel best for our family and the foundation - will look a little different going forward.
RGS and Riley Children's Foundation have been very supportive of this decision, and we look forward to continuing to partner with them to find less intensive ways to raise money for RGS. We have been honored and humbled to hear from many you who would like the golf outings to continue. Thank you so much for all of your support and for understanding our need to take a step back after a decade of golf outings. I look forward to sharing more info on how we will move forward when we have an update!
