“How Do We Live What We Really Believe” by Jerry Zehr

From Jerry Zehr … I wanted to share something I’ve been working on for a long time.

At some point, we all begin to question parts of what we’ve been given, beliefs, expectations, and ways of seeing the world. And then the harder question comes: how do we live what we truly believe while still staying connected to the people around us?

That question led me to write Sacred Rebel: Fierce Love in a Fearful World. It’s a journey I’m still living into every day.

The launch event will be held on Sunday, May 31 from 2:00 to 3:00 pm at the Carmel Clay Library Community Room A. Rather than a traditional book talk, it will be a conversation with stories, reflection, Q and A, and time to connect with one another.

During the event, I’ll also be joined by two people I consider “sacred rebels,” individuals who seek to live with courageous compassion, bridge divides, and remain connected even in difficult times. They will share some of their own stories and reflections about what it means to live authentically and compassionately in today’s world.

Today, I had a great time talking to sixth grade Sunday school students at a local Indianapolis synagogue!
We talked about Islam, Muslims, Judaism and how Jewish and Muslim traditions are similar and how they are different. These kinds of conversations are so valuable in building a peaceful future. 🕌✡️
We need to be like a tree where our roots go deep into our own faith traditions, and the branches grow upwards building relationships and understanding about others.

Another good turnout for breakfast this morning. Thanks to Another Broken Egg and Anna specifically who took care of us, for the second time 😁. Also, thanks to those who assisted in looking ahead at possible 2026 activities.

Dear FMCC Community,

As we close out 2025, we want to take a moment to reflect on a year defined by connection, education, and shared service. This year, the Fishers Multi-Faith Community for Compassion (FMCC) continued its mission to turn neighbors into friends and to foster a community where every voice is heard and every faith is honored.

Here is a look back at the impact we made together in 2025:

2025 Highlights & Accomplishments

Multifaith Thanksgiving Celebration: One of our most impactful gatherings of the year took place in November at the Holy Family Episcipal Church. We brought together residents from across the city to share desserts and coffee, offer prayers of gratitude from diverse traditions, and celebrate the unity that makes Fishers strong.

"Stranger at the Gate" Film Screening: In partnership with the Fishers Arts Council, we hosted a powerful screening of the documentary Stranger at the Gate during the November Gallery Hop at the City of Fishers Municipal Complex Theater. The event included a meaningful "talk back" session with the film's subject, fostering deep dialogue about redemption, acceptance, and the power of radical hospitality.

Sacred Spaces Tours: Throughout the year, we continued our tradition of "meeting our neighbors" by visiting local places of worship. These tours provided educational insights into different traditions and allowed for open, honest conversations in the spaces where our neighbors feel most at home.

Monthly Community Breakfasts: Our monthly breakfast meetings remained the heartbeat of our organization. These sessions served as a planning ground for our service projects and a space for members to build true relationships over coffee and shared goals.
