Our next book club pick is Willa Cather’s masterpiece, Death Comes for the Archbishop—a grounding read for the start of the summer season. Set in the starkly beautiful Southwest after the Mexican-American War, this historical fiction classic follows two priests navigating friendship, faith, and cultural change.

Join us on Saturday, April 4 at the Library, for a special conversation with author, Eric Puchner, of the NYT bestseller "Dream State." Named a Best Book of 2025 by the BBC, The Guardian, and Lit Hub, and an Oprah's Book Club pick, this novel is a sweeping, heart-filled "elegy to the American West."

Set against the backdrop of a changing Montana landscape, Eric will dive into themes of friendship, marriage, and the mistakes we inherit.

Presented in collaboration with as part of the Harry S. Parker III Visiting Artist Program, which brings distinguished writers and artists to Fishers Island to engage with Lighthouse Works Fellows and the Island community.
