This weekend, we were honored to be part of the Young Eagles Annual Youth Event as they celebrated an incredible milestone—their 80th anniversary.🛩️

Under beautiful blue skies, young people had the opportunity to experience the excitement of aviation, and we were privileged to be there alongside so many dedicated volunteers, families, and community members who helped make the day so special. We were especially excited to give a couple of Gibraltar Area School District students a ride to the event aboard Engine 5-09, adding a little extra adventure to an already memorable day.

Congratulations to Young Eagles on 80 years of inspiring future generations. Thank you for allowing us to be part of such a special celebration and unforgettable experience for local youth.

For training this week, we applied our skills to train on vehicle stabilization.

For the rest of training this month, we will continue to train on auto accidents as the county becomes busier.

If you happen to have an old vehicle you'd wish to donate to us for training, send us a message!

Last weekend, Gibraltar Fire & Rescue had the pleasure of hosting the Autism & Sensory First Responder Meet & Greet, where children on the autism spectrum from across Door County had the opportunity to meet local first responders in a calm, welcoming environment.

Attendees were able to interact with personnel from Door County fire departments, Door County EMS, the Door County Sheriff's Department , and the Door County K-9 Search & Rescue Team while exploring emergency vehicles, meeting K-9s and their handlers, and participating in a mini fire safety obstacle course.

The event also featured an informative presentation by Dr. Christine Voigtlander of Gibraltar Area School District, who shared valuable insight on children on the spectrum and how first responders can better interact with and support them during emergency situations.

A very special thank you goes out to Klaud's Kitchen 2.0 for generously providing food and beverages for attendees, as well as lending helping hands before, during, and after the event.

Lastly, we would like to recognize Ephraim and Egg Harbor Firefighter/First Responder Miranda Bader, whose vision, dedication, and hard work brought this important community event to life.

Events like these strengthen understanding, build trust, and help ensure that every member of our community feels seen, supported, and safe. We are grateful to everyone who participated and helped make this meaningful event such a success.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the incredible moms, grandmas, stepmoms, mother figures, and firefighter/EMS spouses who keep our families, crews, and communities going strong every single day.

From the moms responding to calls, to the ones waiting at home while loved ones serve — today we celebrate all that you do. We also hold close the memories of the moms and mother figures no longer with us, whose love and influence continue to shape our lives every day.

Thank you for the strength, support, patience, and love you bring to our families and our community.

Wishing you a safe, relaxing, and Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at Gibraltar Fire & Rescue.
