We would like to send a huge thank you to the numerous people that made our house burn training a success yesterday. The State Fire Marshals for providing amazing instruction so the firefighters felt safe and confident entering a burning building, the volunteers from numerous fire departments that attended the house burn, Troop 111 for serving food along side the family who owned the property, and to our own members who spent several man hours making sure everything was set up for a successful day. (I apologize if I left anyone out) This type of training allows firefighters and EMTs to train in a controlled and safe environment. The training is vital, and prepares our team to be ready when a structure fire happens. We will share additional pictures later today.

In the months leading up to December 7, 1941, the Boy Scouts of the Honolulu Council were busy training, honing their first aid and emergency communication skills.

Like Scouts today, they didn’t know when, or if, they would need to use what they had learned. They simply wanted to be prepared.

That morning, the attack on Pearl Harbor tested their skills faster and more intensely than any Scout could have imagined.

Alexander Woods, from Troop 111, is completing his Eagle Scout project of establishing permanent drop boxes for flag retirement. The permanent boxes will be located at the Firth and Panama Fire Stations. We will be holding a dedication ceremony at the Firth Fire Station on Saturday, November 15th from 10 am to Noon. We encourage the community to attend. Refreshments will be served.

If you have flags that you would like to donate, please drop them off in the temporary totes that are located at each station, near the front door, before November 15th.

Today, July 16, 2025, marks the 110th anniversary of the Order of the Arrow (OA) — Scouting’s National Honor Society. For over a century, the OA has upheld a tradition of service, leadership, and brotherhood.

The OA was founded at Treasure Island Scout Reservation on the Delaware River in Pennsylvania by Dr. E. Urner Goodman and Carroll A. Edson. Their vision was to recognize those who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives.

Here's to 110 years of cheerful service, and to the countless Scouts and leaders who have carried forward its legacy.
