If you ever need help recovering a deer, this 2026–2027 Ohio Deer Trackers map is a great resource to have handy. It lists experienced blood-tracking dog teams across Ohio and surrounding areas, along with their contact information and coverage areas.

A tracking dog can make all the difference when the blood trail gets tough. Give the deer time, back out when needed, and don’t be afraid to call in some help.

Good luck this season, hunt safe, and hopefully you never need this list — but keep it saved just in case!

Looking to put more venison in the freezer while helping manage Ohio's deer herd? A Deer Management Permit is a great option!

✅ Only $15 per permit
✅ Valid for antlerless deer only
✅ Can be used on private and public land
✅ Valid during authorized controlled deer hunts
✅ Valid statewide: September 26, 2026 – February 7, 2027
✅ Disease Surveillance Area: September 12, 2026 – February 7, 2027

Responsible deer management helps maintain a healthy deer population, supports habitat conservation, and provides additional hunting opportunities for Ohio hunters.

🎯 Ohio Controlled Access Lottery Applications Are NOW OPEN! 🦌🦆

Looking for a chance to hunt some of Ohio's premier wildlife areas? The Ohio Division of Wildlife's 2026 Controlled Access Lotteries are now accepting applications!

📅 Apply July 1 – July 31 for: 🦌 White-tailed Deer 🦆 Waterfowl 🐇 Small Game 🦆 Waterfowl Blinds 🕊️ Mourning Dove

Additional lottery opportunities include: 🦃 Turkey (March 1–31) 🦫 Beaver, Otter & Furbearer Trapping (in-person lottery held the first Saturday in October at Ohio Wildlife District Offices)

These controlled access hunts provide unique opportunities to pursue a variety of game species on selected public hunting areas across Ohio.
