We are greatly saddened by the loss of Tony Iriti, first executive director of Findlay-Hancock County Economic Development. His outstanding leadership for more than 30 years in the Findlay community laid the foundation for the success we see not only in our office, but in the Findlay community as a whole. We celebrate our dear friend and mentor with grateful fondness (and more to come). The world is not the same without you.

Thank you, Tony!

This month, we celebrate Rodney B. Walton in his retirement from WesBanco after a 43-year career in banking! Through his career and service, Walton has made a tremendous impact on the Findlay business community, arts community, and Findlay as a whole. We are honored to share his story!

While Walton is proudest to have been one of five founding members of the Marathon Center for the Performing Arts, his service to the community is extensive. Findlay Mayor Christina Muryn issued a City of Findlay- Mayor's Office Proclamation marking April 10, 2026 as Rodney B. Walton Day for “positively impacting thousands of lives through his professional excellence, leadership, and commitment to service.”

We celebrate and commend our friend, a long-time member and partner to the FHCED office, and an adventurous performer for the Findlay - Hancock County Chamber of Commerce's Annual Small Business Awards. Walton also served on the Chamber board for several years and was instrumental in leading the Chamber’s 30-year Accreditation. Through his time on the board, Walton helped transition what were once separate Chamber and Economic Development offices into Greater Findlay, Inc., the precursor to The Alliance.

Read more about Walton's distinctive career, service and legacy here! Congratulations on a storied career, Rod - thank you!

FHCED Executive Director Matt Gilroy attended the Center to Advance Manufacturing's Northwest Ohio Manufacturers Legislative Roundtable last week. Senator Rob McColley was present as well as FHCED board members Renato Esteves of Whirlpool and Jason Black of Ohio Logistics, along with several manufacturers, legislators, educators and economic development leaders of the region. It was a great day filled with enriching discussion about the state of manufacturing today and where it is headed tomorrow.

Ohio is a rising economic powerhouse. Through decades of strategic planning, key partnerships and innovation, Ohio is becoming one of the most attractive states for business, and it's showing in the numbers. Findlay, as Top Micropolitan in the U.S. 11 years in a row and now still dominating in 2nd place, has helped to influence those numbers. (Site Selection Magazine)

“We have been working to change the question from, ‘Why would we go to Ohio?’ to ‘How can we get there?’” said JP Nauseef, president and CEO of JobsOhio, who recently spoke at Findlay-Hancock County Economic Development’s Investor Forum. “Ohio can lead (JobsOhio’s identified) super sectors, and we intend to do so. And when they plant those seeds here, supply chains will follow. It’s a very exciting time right now.”

We had a fantastic day representing The Alliance today volunteering for United Way of Hancock County's Days of Caring. What an awesome opportunity to learn more about all of the great things Cancer Patient Services of Hancock County does for the community, and our team members enjoyed having the chance to give back!

Shout out to UWHC - they have organized 712 volunteers completing 89 projects this week, saving the community $102,348. Thank you for orchestrating this amazing event!
