Our team is hard at work to share opportunities for learning (and joy) with our shelter residents. Last week Adelyn from Adelyn's Front Porch Market joined us to show residents how to make fruity pebbles cookies. The residents enjoyed the fellowship and the treats. Thank you, Adelyn for sharing your gifts with us. It is our goal to expose the ladies to these opportunities for life skills and hobby interests.

Yesterday our Development Director, Ashley Pester, had a meaningful community conversation to celebrate Hope House's 15 year Chamber anniversary. This is a great content summary of our work in Findlay and Hancock County to help individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Learn how you can help be a part of the solution or advocate for our mission. Contact Ashley at 419-427-2848 or [email protected] to continue the conversation!

Recently Coalition On Homelessness and Housing in Ohio published their Out of Reach Report for the state of Ohio. This graphic is the statewide housing wage needed to afford rental of a 2 bedroom apartment; this can vary from county to county. Their report also states that the gap between wages and housing cost has grown 169% since 2020 - this is why so many people are feeling the squeeze.

Last week Hope House was one of the sites for the University of Findlay Orientation Service Projects. Fifteen students led by their faculty representative got to work tackling many tasks at the shelter. We are grateful for their service and the opportunity to educate them about homelessness in Hancock county as they come from a variety of communities across the state of Ohio. We wish you the very best with your learning and future community involvement.
