Do you have a child at LB or Kalida? Did you know that the foundation gives 2, $1000 scholarships yearly to a senior pursing a degree in the STEM field? So far, there have been four recipients of the scholarship.

Did you know the foundation has donated over $10,000 to cancer research to the OSU James? The diagnosis Cholangiocarcinoma is never something your family wants to hear. Hopefully one day if you do have to hear it there are a better treatment and curative options.

Since the foundation has started, roughly $1800 has gone to families who have gone through a medical crisis or cancer diagnosis. Families are nominated via word of mouth or a form on the website.

💚💚 Please read and check this website out!

Neil’s diagnosis and death is an experience that sometimes goes beyond words or comprehension. The emotions that surround a diagnosis, both for the person facing it and the family watching it unfold, are overwhelming and unimaginable. The emotions after loss are not much different.

I still struggle with mixed feelings when it comes to life, death, what comes after, and purpose. I have always said I will never look for a silver lining in this, and honestly I still do not know if I do. But I did make one promise to myself. I would never let Neil’s struggle and diagnosis be in vain. I will make sure his kids know his legacy, his fight, and the man I loved so deeply.

This foundation would not exist without the many people who work behind the scenes. Our board continues to meet, plan, and guide our fundraising efforts. My friend, Cory, who is a lawyer did the non profit paper work for us completely free. Norm and Rhonda do so much quiet work behind the scenes to keep things running. And of course none of it would be possible without the incredible generosity of the donors who continue to support our mission.

I also cannot thank Monty in Columbus enough for creating this website for us. (And Caitlin and Lisa for connecting me with him). His generosity with his time and talent means more than I can say.

Please take a moment to check out the website. It brings everything into one place. It connects people who are newly diagnosed with credible resources, allows families to be nominated for support, gives seniors the chance to apply for scholarships, and shares Neil’s story. When my kids search their dad’s name someday, I want them to see this. I want them to see how hard he fought. I want them to know he mattered.

And I will never let him be forgotten.
