Ohio’s state legislature has broken its commitment to public schools for the last 20 years. The most recent state budget underfunded Ohio’s public schools by nearly $2.75 billion, driving the state’s share of school funding to just 32.2% by 2027 — lower than it was before the Ohio Supreme Court ruled Ohio’s school funding system unconstitutional in 1997.

Ohio lawmakers have underfunded public schools and other essential public services, thus placing the burden on local property taxpayers. What would Ohio look like if we eliminate property taxes? An Ohio where none of us would want to live.
