Getting your hands dirty was the topic of conversation for the noon Rotary club. Mia Lombardi from Chopin Community Gardens. Lombardi explained the history of the gardens and how they are utilized today including food donations from the Master Gardeners. Over 1,000 pounds of local produce has been donated to local food banks and shelters.

Sufficient Grace Ministries touches the hearts of the Findlay Rotarians for the noon lunch meeting. Kelly Gerken, Founder, said the organization was created from her own need and experience of loss. She lost 3 of her five children. She began in her basement creating the SGM baby book Dreams of You. And thank you Jaimee for sharing your unbelievable experience and your loving memory of baby Eleanor. Pictured: Rotory Pres. Yesterday, we welcomed Rotary District 6600 Governor Katherine Eboch to our club. We loved hearing her inspiring Rotary story, as well as all the exciting things going on in our region. The scope of Rotary is large, and we are proud to be a part of it!

Learning is a big part of what happens in our club, and today we heard about another group of lifelong learners, The Findlay Symposium. The group has a 137-year history in this community of organizing literary topics and presentations on relevant big-picture topics. Today, our club learned not only what the Lima Symphony Orchestra offers to concertgoers, but also about powerful programs the Orchestra presents in the region, such as Symphony Storytime and Healing Through Music. Well done Elizabeth Brown-Ellis, Chief Executive Officer of the Orchestra and her team of musical difference makers!

Let's go Findlay! Football season officially kicked off at our club's Wednesday meeting, as Findlay High coach Stefan Adams and University of Findlay coach Tyler Johns spoke about their upcoming season. See Adams and the Trojans as they kick off their season at home tonight at 7 p.m. at Donnell Stadium. The Oilers' first home game is Saturday, Sept. 12 at noon, also at Donnell. Good luck to them and to all the local teams!

Matt Gilroy, Executive Director of Findlay-Hancock County Economic Develop, gave an interesting address during Wednesday's meeting on economic prospects in our area. It was encouraging to hear about all that is going on in the area, and all we hope will happen in the future.
