We are excited to offer market turkeys for the 2026 Hancock County Fair! We understand this opportunity may be coming a bit late for some families, but we still wanted to make it available to everyone. Next year, we plan to open orders earlier.

All turkey orders must be received by NOON on Friday, March 27th, in order to meet the deadline with Cooper Farms Hatchery. Cooper Farms has been a wonderful supporter of county 4-H and FFA programs and is offering up to five free poults for each youth completing a market turkey project.

Youth may order more than five poults; however, each additional poult beyond the first five must be purchased. Extra hens are $3.50 each.

Please note that this offer is available only to youth enrolled in 4-H or FFA who will be completing a market turkey project in 2026.

Turkey pickup will be Tuesday, April 14th (*), from NOON-4:00 PM. at the Extension Office. Payment for any additional poults is due at pickup.

To place an order, please submit your request online by clicking here: https://osu.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0U65F7hy5dnyamq

If you have any questions, please call the Extension Office at (419) 422-3851.

(*) Due to the difficulty of getting poults this year without them being shipped to a post office, the first hatch date has been changed to April 13th for this year only. This applies to all Junior Fair Market Turkey Exhibitors.

I am one of those that is allergic to the rabbits and understands the concern.

The department superintendents are responsible for meeting the needs of their exhibitors and their animals, including ensuring a safe environment for everyone involved. In Hancock County, we have poultry exhibitors with allergies to rabbit dander and exposure can cause significant breathing difficulties for them.

For that reason, as poultry superintendents, we DID NOT state that the poultry department is unwilling to share a small animal building with the rabbits. What we DID state is that, if the poultry and rabbit departments share a building, appropriate measures must be taken to protect exhibitors with allergies to rabbit dander.

Any report, statement, or rumor suggesting otherwise is not accurate.
