AERO 55 Aero55 brings together aviators in the KY 55 corridor (and beyond!) for fun, fellowship, and flying. Membership is is open to all with interest and enthusiasm.

Aero 55 is an informal organization for aviators and friends located along the KY Route 55 corridor and extending 100 NM on either side. Its purpose is to organize, promote, and coordinate social gatherings, flying activities, information sharing, safety, and support. Its focus is to help connect aviators and to celebrate and promote rural aviation in central Kentcuky and southern Indiana.

Another great day to fly!

Since it was 62 degrees, favoring winds (250@5) and only 1/4 tanks, I took off from runway 27. 27 is uphill and 1350’. Good practice!

I made a fuel stop at Lebanon-Springfield then west to Russellville-Logan County (4M7).

FBO was clean, staffed and well decorated. In addition, they have two courtesy cars. 100LL was $6.55.

Roy’s Bar-B-Que gets 10 out of 10. The BBQ, baked beans, slaw, potato salad were fantastic! And it was only $12 (without tip). Restaurant is an eight minute drive from the airport.

The leaves are just starting to turn. Maybe by the weekend.

The International Cessna 170 convention took place this week (Tuesday-Saturday) in Fort Walton Beach, FL. Hurricane Isaias put a stop to the festivities! The hotel had to be evacuated by 8pm Tuesday. Kim made the call to drive instead of flying.

So today Kim flew us up to Hagerstown, IN (i61) for lunch.
We took the golf cart to “The Dairy” for lunch, then stopped by Abbotts Candy shop on the way back to the airport.

Great $150 pork tenderloin sandwich and tater tots.

Hagerstown (i61) and Pam’s Place (78i) have fly-in breakfasts tomorrow (Saturday) morning.

Beautiful morning flying to Portsmouth, OH (PMH). Breakfast at Skyline Family restaurant was delicious.

Fuel stop in Cynthiana-Harrison County (0i8) on the way home (58KY). Great price @ $5.85. I did not remember that there were three giant solar farms near the airport! Very nice.
