Today, We are celebrating the volunteers who made Play It Forward possible.
I was asked a lot why our shirts said "First Shift"
In hockey the First Shift is the first group to step onto the ice during a game BUT to us it meant being willing to "Go First"
Go first in believing in an idea
Go first in supporting a new program in our community
Go first in giving your time, energy, resources or talents
Go first in serving without expecting anything in return
Over Twenty volunteers made the decision to go first and to coach, encourage, organize, carry equipment, hand out snacks, and make sure over 60 kids felt welcomed and supported.
They showed our athletes what leadership really looks like.
Thank you to every volunteer who took the First Shift.
You helped build something meaningful, and you set an example that I hope others will continue to follow.
