Some projects add to a community.

Others change it forever.

Southern Idaho Ice is being built to become a cornerstone of the Magic Valley. We believe our community needs a place where families gather, athletes grow, and community happens year-round right here at home.

We are currently in early conversations with a small number of founding partners who want to be part of building something that lasts for generations.

16% of families who have taken our 60 second survey shared they regularly travel outside the area just to find ice.

That’s 191 people leaving our area to skate.

Here's what that looks like:
Rushing out after school (sometimes before it's out)
Packing up the car with gear, snacks, crock pot meals previously prepped or planning to stop for dinner.
Driving hours…
And getting home late.

Not because families want to
but because there’s no option here.

We strongly believe there should be for our kids, for our community.

Our survey inputs have slowed down but we are not discouraged.
Our conversations are shifting in an exciting direction and we are looking at how to move into phase two without prematurely fundraising.

It is coming, stay with us, stay excited and please keep sharing us with your friends, family, neighbor, coworkers, city council members because without you this would be dead in the water.

Recreation is not a luxury. It is what strong communities are built on.

Across the country, communities that invest in facilities like ice rinks see:
– Increased local economic activity
– Stronger community engagement
– Expanded youth programming and development

The magic valley currently has the demand for a rink of our own.

Our goal is to change that with a year-round ice facility that serves families, athletes, and the broader community.

We’re currently gathering data to demonstrate need and long-term sustainability.

Day 19 Update

1,093 voices.

That’s how many people have taken the 60 second survey and shared this vision with their friends and family.

This is huge and something we are as a board are so grateful for. Thank you.

If you’ve been here since day one, we know this part may feel repetitive.
The survey and the data collected is a very important part of taking this to the next step.
Together we have to show that this can be a sustainable, year-round facility for the Magic Valley.

We feel the excitement with you.
We hear the questions, suggestions, and concerns.

Behind the scenes, we are doing the work to find real answers, without asking the community to fund that process prematurely. As a board, we’re stepping outside our comfort zones by starting conversations, learning from those who have done this before, and figuring out how to build this for our community.

We also want to be transparent about where we are:

We have not yet found our legacy donors.
The ones whose generosity will help make this happen.
The ones who see the long-term, generational impact.
The ones who believe in what this could become for families here.

But we will.

We don’t question if this will happen, only when.

So right now, what matters most is continuing to build the foundation that gets us there.

That starts with data.

Okay… fair warning 😅

Next week we will be out taking the next step.

We’ll be visiting local businesses across Twin Falls introducing Southern Idaho Ice, sharing what’s happening, and asking if they’d be willing to help us spread the word.

We’re not looking to do this alone with looking to do this with our community and we want to meet you 🤩

We've heard a lot that we "don't have the culture for a rink" here... Yet you guys keep proving that wrong.

Every single input provides proof that this would matter.

That this would make a difference.

That this would serve and connect families from all across the Magic Valley.

You guys have done incredible at sharing to your feeds and we appreciate it so so much.

We are truly blown away by it.

Please consider tagging friends directly who may have missed it, family members who know they need it just need encouragement to take the survey. Leaders within the community who you think would love to support something like this and may have missed it.

Let’s keep working together to move this out of phase 1 and into phase 2 🧊🏒⛸️

This got bigger than we expected... Fast.

What started as an idea has turned into something that clearly matters to this community.

We’ve been blown away by the people who have shared this, reached out, and offered to help.

That matters more than you know because what comes next will require all of it.

Right now, our focus is on building real momentum.

Not just awareness, but solid proof.
Proof that this matters.
Proof that the Magic Valley can support something like this.

Because when it’s time to step into partnerships and move this forward, that momentum is what opens doors.

We’re still in the early stages, but this is where it’s going.

If you are someone who builds, leads, or invests in projects that shape communities, we would love to start that conversation.

And if someone comes to mind who belongs in that circle,
an introduction would mean more than you know.

This is for the community, by the community.
It will take the right people stepping in to make it real.
