About 140 gifts delivered to our local veterans in care centers this week. Our Filer American Legion Auxiliary prepared them last week to commemorate Memorial Day and our country’s 250th birthday!

The Filer American Legion Auxiliary has selected twelve girls from Filer, Buhl and Castleford to attend Girls State in June.

Girls State is a unique learning experience for girls who have completed their Junior year in high school. Delegates have the opportunity to form and enact city, county and state governments, a legislature, and a court system. Girls learn about government by doing it, running for office, campaigning, holding elections, debating bills, and forming mock political parties. Two delegates from Idaho’s session will be selected to participate in Girls Nation in Washington, D.C. in July.

Idaho American Legion Auxiliary Syringa Girls State will be held at Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho, June 14-19, 2026.

Attending from Filer High School are Liliana Arellano, daughter of Erika and Juan Arellano; Arabella Kohtz, daughter of Steven and Elizabeth Kohtz; and Abigail Rambo, daughter of Laura and Greg Rambo.

🌟 Bring a Little Extra for Our Filer Food Pantry! 🌟

Hey friends! As we get together for Bunco night at the Filer Legion Hall (next week!), let’s also support neighbors who could use a little help. In Filer, nearly 1 in 12 residents live below the poverty line, and our local food pantry works hard to keep up with demand.

Please consider bringing a non-perishable food item — every can or box helps! Here are some ideas:

🥫 Canned protein (tuna, chicken, beans, soups)
🍝 Rice, pasta & pasta sauce
🍎 Canned fruits & vegetables
🥣 Cereal, oatmeal & shelf-stable milk
🥜 Peanut butter
(Anything with a long shelf life and not requiring refrigeration!)

Let’s play Bunco and fill those pantry shelves together! 🎲💪

We are so thankful for the continued support you show up with for our events that support local veterans. We’re proud of the friendships we’ve built within this community and are truly grateful for each of you.

We’re excited to see what 2026 brings and can’t wait to spend more time together this year.
