And with that Labor Notes comes to an end!
After a year of fundraising the Young Workers Committee was able to send 10 members to Chicago for Labor Notes 2026. The group was made up of 7 casuals from Local 23 and 3 members from Local 23’s ware house division Wallenius Wilhelmsen. Each member was able to explore and participate in courses ranging from fighting AI in the workplace and how to bridge the gap in different generations to how we can make unions stronger through solidarity. We hope they can use what they learned to help the future of the union!
Some special thanks we would like to give:
-To the auxiliary and pensioners for their donations
- To the Secretaries for their help with lodging, flights and registrations and for the consistent updates/tracking of funds
-To the Trustees for their help with the coordination of facilities
-To The Valley in Tacoma for allowing us the use of their facility for our largest event
- and of course we would like to thank the membership for their continued efforts in helping with fundraising! Without the support from the membership, events like these would not be possible
