NAWIC, South Sound Chapter #187 National Association of Women in Construction Sixteen women working in the construction industry founded it in 1953.

The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) originally began as Women in Construction of Fort Worth, Texas. Knowing that women represented only a small fraction of the construction industry, the founders organized NAWIC to create a support network. Women in Construction of Fort Worth was so successful that it gained its national charter in 1955 and became the National Association of

Women in Construction. Today, NAWIC provides its members with opportunities for professional development, education, networking, leadership training, public service and more.

Have you ever wondered “What is NAWIC all about?” or “How could NAWIC help my career?” Next Tuesday, April 8th, at our monthly meeting we will explore all these questions, and dive into what NAWIC is all about.

Some learning objectives we hope you take away from this meeting:
1. Networking and mentorship from local women leaders in construction
2. Professional development opportunities
3. Events to strengthen and unite a community of builders
4. What your local chapter has to offer

NAWIC South Sound Chapter #187’s Largest WIC Week Celebration Yet!

Tuesday night at Black Fleet Brewing Taproom & Kitchen in was an incredible gathering of industry professionals celebrating women in construction! The evening was packed with networking, knowledge-sharing, trivia, food, drinks, and meaningful connections.

A huge shoutout to Chapter President Jaycene Reyes Marini for leading the charge in making this event a success and to Regional Director Charris Sonne-Phinney, for joining us—we appreciate your support and leadership!

Such a great time last night at our annual Holiday Party! We played games, ate some amazing food and collected so many wonderful donations of gift cards and items for the Family Renewal Shelter, a non profit organization who helps women escape domestic violence situations.
