Today, March 31st, is International Trans Day of Visibility.

In an era of immense difficulty for the community, it can be hard to remember that Trans Day of Visibility is as much about positivity as it is about awareness and resistance.

The annual awareness day, which takes place on 31 March every year, was founded by activist Rachel Crandall Crocker as an alternative to the comparatively bleak awareness holidays dedicated to trans people, such as Trans Day of Remembrance.

This weekend, the Seniors Count team had the opportunity to spend time at St. Louis Health Equipment Program-STL HELP during their Saturday Morning Equipment Pick-Up and Donation Drop-Off.

We kicked things off with a tour of their space and an introduction to how their system works. The facility was filled with great energy, volunteers carefully repairing donated equipment, friendly staff welcoming neighbors picking up much-needed items, and community members dropping off donations to give them a second life. We were also grateful for the chance to share more about the Seniors Count initiative and connect with those doing this important work every day.

Since 2008, STL HELP has been collecting, cleaning, and redistributing donated home medical equipment free of charge to thousands of neighbors across the St. Louis region. Their model is simple and powerful: neighbors helping neighbors. Every walker, wheelchair, and shower chair provided helps children and adults regain independence, keeps families safe, and ensures usable equipment stays out of landfills.

We’re excited to share a few stories later this week highlighting the impact of their work. Thank you, STL HELP, for welcoming our team and for all you do to create a healthier, more compassionate, and more sustainable community.

There are countless ways we can contribute to the spread of peace and compassion on our planet. 💜

They all begin with making peace within ourselves.

And that's especially important now.

Let's find ways today to foster inner peace so we can reflect that peace in our actions.

Two tools are: (1) Starting a morning spiritual practice with quiet time for contemplation, meditation, prayer and gratitude.

And (2) Sending out a blessing for the world and all beings each day.

We can do this right now. 💜

Send deep love and prayers for all those who are suffering today and for our heartfelt intentions.

It matters. We build our world together.

And the world is in need of our peace today. 💜

We can do this. With love. Together. xo
