We’re tackling every nook and cranny to get the sanctuary ready for spring! Tasks include:

Power washing cages (trust us, it’s strangely satisfying!)

Deep cleaning kitchen spaces and cabinets.

Organizing storage areas.

Quality Time: Best of all, you’ll get plenty of breaks to play and hang out with our amazing parrots while you work!

Fuel Up: We’re providing plenty of pizza and ice-cold soft drinks to keep our volunteer flock hydrated and happy.

Help Us Fluff Our Feathers! Spring Cleaning at the Haven
Spring is in the air, and at Wings of Love Bird Haven, that means it’s time to get our sanctuary shining for the sunny months ahead! We are looking for some "early birds" to join us for a high-energy Volunteer Work Weekend.

Whether you’re a long-time supporter or a first-time friend, we’d love to have your helping hands to make The Haven sparkle.

🌟 Adoption Success! 🕊️💛

We are absolutely over the moon to share Storm’s beautiful new beginning with the Jones family and their flock.

Storm came to The Haven after losing her beloved human following a lengthy illness. She was understandably heartbroken and spent several months feeling quiet and subdued while she adjusted to her new surroundings. But just as she was beginning to come out of her shell, something wonderful happened — the Jones family visited, searching for a companion for Raye.

It was truly meant to be. Storm is very much a “girl’s bird,” perfectly suited to the family’s dynamic, and she and Raye fit together like puzzle pieces. Watching their connection blossom has filled our hearts with so much joy.

Here’s to new beginnings, healing hearts, and the happiness Storm so deserves. 💕

Before the weather, we were enjoying unusually warm days, so of course, the birds were in the aviary. Chopper is a bare eyed cockatoo (like Rachael) but he’s a bit larger. (We have introduced Chopper and Rachael, but they prefer their human companions over one another.😅) Chopper is quite vocal and is extremely intelligent. We believe he is almost 50 years old. His favorite games are hide & seek and peek-a-boo. He gets a huge kick out of hiding in his bag, then running out to “scare” you. He’s such a character! Katie D., one of our amazing volunteers, took these beautiful photos of Chopper. Thanks Katie!

It’s a beautiful way to start your day! Soleil is a very young sun conure that came to us when she was just a few weeks old. She loves to snuggle and play. I feel blessed each day surrounded by this kind of flock love.

Here is the volunteer link with dates through April 2026. If you are interested in adopting, this is the first step. Working with and getting to know the birds is a must. No bird goes home with a stranger, and everyone knows what to expect down from one another. This work on the front end makes for an easier transition for you and for your feathered companion. We look forward to working with you.

Get to know the parrots, help with daily feeding and cleaning of the enclosures, and engage in enrichment activities with the birds. *We do not condone parrots hanging out in construction areas, nor do we suggest anyone require their parrot to wear a hard hat. Anyway, I doubt they’d comply with safety standards, and they’d be terribly bossy.

Happy National Bird Day! Birds are AMAZING! They’re also under particular threat thanks to the illegal pet trade, habitat loss, and disease. It is more important than ever to raise public awareness of the needs of birds.
The survival of SO many species depends on it.

Happy New Year! It is business as usual at The Haven.
Today was a beautiful day and surprisingly warm. Skylar, a 6 year old scarlet macaw, received a manicure this afternoon. She was rewarded with a treat and time with her favorite human in the aviary! Scarlet macaws have big personalities and they are wicked intelligent.

This is a call for help. As many who have visited Wings of Love Bird Haven know, there are several Great Pyrenees dogs in the area around the sanctuary. This young short-haired GP was gored by a wild boar, we think. He was at our door first thing in the morning morning with a huge wound on his right flank big and deep enough to fit a golf ball. He was obviously looking for help.
Since this is an emergency situation, I am currently at VEG animal ER in Dallas having him treated. The bill is significant. We are humbly asking for any help with his vet bill.
